    1. Peters, Cates, Fox
    2. Speers Young Man and Pretty Tennessee Widow Not to be Married Now Wednesday a marriage license was issued to Samuel Fox, a well known young man of Speers, and Mrs. Ida Peters a widow of 22 summers, formerly of the Speers section, but for some time residing at Briceville, Tenn. Friday the license came back unused, indicating a change of heart somewhere, says the Washington Observer. The wedding it is understood, is off for good, and Mrs. Peters and her mother, Mrs. William Cates have returned to Tennessee. What caused the break between young Fox and Mrs. Peters is not known. The young man seemed much pleased on Wednesday when he secured the license. Friday the license was returned by a man coming over to Washington from Speers it being handed to him by Mr. Fox as the man took the car for Washington. Mrs. Peters, with her mother, went to Tennessee several months ago. It was there that the young woman was married to a man by the name of Peters. He was killed in the Briceville mine disaster several weeks ago. The young widow and her child and her mother came to Speers several weeks ago on a visit. She and Mr. Fox became friends, the friendship developed fast, and an engagement followed. The marriage was arranged for the license was secured, but the proposed voyage over the matrimonial sea was not begun. Charleroi Mail, Charleroi, Pennsylvania; July 27, 1912
