Smith, age 67 of Sidney, OH Mary Ruth Lay Smith, age 81 of Caryville Walter Weaver, age 76 of Speedwell Delno Dallas Ausmus, age 69 of Knoxville, was born Christmas day in 1935 to Robert and Monnie Goins Ausmus, and departed this life on the morning of Feb. 20 at St. Mary's Hospital in Knoxville. He was raised in the Valley View Community of LaFollette, attended Valley View School, graduated from LaFollette High School and Graduated from Berea College cum laude. He did graduate work at Memphis State and at U.T. he began his career teaching math and physics at LaFollette High School in 1964, he began working at Oak Ridge National Laboratory as a physicist in the Nuclear Science Division where he was promoted in 1974 to shift supervisor over the X-10 plant. During this time, he received several awards for outstanding services and training. He retired in November of 2000 after 37 years there. His scientific knowledge was as astounding as his love and devotion to his family and friends. He enjoyed laughter, the Vols, NASCAR, world travel and time spent with his family and friends. He was a wonderful precious husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend who had a huge kind, loving heart to all. He was a beloved leader in his career and a solid anchor and rock to his family. His friendly smiles, gentle touch, and encouraging words, as well as his whole being, will be immensely missed.He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Enlo Ausmus. Bobby Lee Bailey, age 69 of Cedar Creek Rd., LaFollette went home to be with the Lord on Feb. 16 at the St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. He was of the Baptist Faith. Early in life he enjoyed hunting and fishing. As his health began to fail he enjoyed listening to music. He worked at LaFollette Hospital for many years in the maintenance department. He was preceded in death by his parents, Conley and Hallie Butler Bailey; brothers, Bobby Gene and Curley Dan Bailey; sister, Betty Lou Bailey Woods. He is survived by Bobbie Sue Jones and family especially her son, Timmy whom he was very close to. She loved attending "Monday School" at her church where she fellowshipped with her friends. She was a graduate of the University of Tennessee where she received her Master's degree in teaching. She taught for 32 years in the Anderson County School System. She enjoyed gardening and was a member of the East Tennessee Iris Society. Vestal Sharp, age 84 of Lake City passed away Feb. 20 at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. He was born Aug. 24, 1920 in Briceville to the late Walter Lee and Cora Hawkins Sharp. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a World War II veteran who loved whittling, gardening and singing. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Walter Lee, Jr. and Bufford Sharp; sister, Anna Lour Bray; granddaughter, Amanda Foust. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Faye Marie Cox Sharp of Lake City; sons, Walter Sharp and wife, Nancy of Lake City, Michael Sharp and wife, Margaret of Lake City; daughters, Joyce Phillips and husband, Charlie of Sylvania, OH; Angela Colston of Lake City, Iva Davis of Briceville; brothers, Richard and Faye Sharp of Lake City, Verlin and Bonnie Sharp of Lake City, Roy and Joyce Sharp of Lake City; sisters, Evelyn Austin of Lake City, Margaret and Ralph Davis of Oklahoma; 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; special friends, Sammy Miles and Mack Wilson both of Briceville; a host of other family and friends. Funeral services were Feb. 22 at the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Archie Seiber, Jesse Lawson and Rev. R.C. Seiber officiating. Interment was in the Leach Cemetery. Hatmaker Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Frank W. Smith, age 67 of Sidney, OH passed away Feb. 20 at the Pavilion. He was born June 8, 1937 in LaFollette, the son of the late Captain Rice and Verdie (Russell) Smith. He retired from Everyday Manufacturing after 38 years of service. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Sydney. He was preceded in death by his son, Raymond; sister, Helen; twelve half brothers and sisters. He is survived by his children, Cindy Curry of Orlando, FLA, Steven Smith of Kettlersville, OH, Deb Smith of DeGraff, OH and Christina Smith of Piqua, OH; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; brothers, Floyd Smith of Sidney,OH and Russell Smith of LaFollette. Funeral services will be at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 24 at Cromes Funeral Home with the Rev. Brent Howard officiating. Interment will be in LaFollette. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation. Mary Ruth Lay Smith, age 81 of Caryville passed away peacefully at her home on Feb. 20. She was a member of Red Ash Baptist Church since childhood. She Loved the Lord and her family very much. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 loving years, Joe Ray Smith in 1993; infant daughter, Loretta; parents, Burton Thomas and Nellie Davis Lay; brother, James O. Lay; sister, Maudie Lucille Lay Jackson. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Billy R. and Marianne Smith of Caryville; son, Jimmie R. Smith of Dayton, OH; daughters and son-in-laws, Ruth A. Evans-Huff and Rollin Huff of Middletown, OH, and Pauline Smith Young and Lonas Young of LaFollette; over 150 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; sister, Gladys T. Evans of Caryville; sister and brother-in laws, Mildred and Harry Phillips of Dayton, OH, Edna and Andrew Daugherty of Knoxville; brother and sister-in law, Estle O'deva and Virginia Lay of Caryville; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were Feb. 22 in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Brotherton and Rev. Hobert McCreary officiating. Interment was in Queener Cemetery. Walter Weaver, age 76 of Speedwell passed away Feb. 14 at his home. He was born June 19, 1928 in Goin, TN to the late Sillis and Gladys Bearden Weaver. He accepted Christ as his Savior in 1945 and was of the Pentecostal faith. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; four sisters. He is survived by his wife of nearly 54 years, Ramona Pearman Weaver; daughter, Ann (Danny) Longworth of Harrogate; sons, Robert (Linda) Weaver of Harrogate, James (Sandra) Weaver, Johnny (Madeline) Weaver of Speedwell; brother, Calvin B. Weaver of Speedwell; sisters, Katherine Manis of Middlesboro, KY, Wretha Wright of Arthur; granddaughters, Shannon, Caroline, Beth, Tracy, Ahsley, Ciara and Jessica; five great grandchildren; a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were Feb. 16 at the Reece Valley Chapel with the Rev. Gerald Warf and Rev. Hermas Grubbs officiating. Music by the Journey Makers. Interment was in the Kilbert Cemetery. Pallbearers were Randal Wilson, Eugene Franks, Mike Hatfield, James Partin, Jason Brown and Eddie Chumley.
