    3. John: I hope so, but the Volunteer Times article said March 4. Since I did not attend the meeting last Thursday I don't know for sure. Dedication is set for June 11. I am thinking that possibly this group of Confederate Solders may have been the ones who arrested my great great uncle Lewis Baird at his home here in Elk Valley 11/1/1862. I believe that date is correct which was salavged from the prison records and published by a man by the name of Brown I think. Ironically the prison at Salisbury N. C. where he was imprisoned was opened 11/02/1862. I remember a couple more arrest dates for men who were from Claiborne County. Seems like one was arrested for shoeing a Union horses, he was a blacksmith? --Gerald MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL!! 3. Hi Gerald, That is highly possible that this may have been the company that the soldiers were in and shoeing horses for the enemy was a serious charge! Just depends on which side you were on. The War Between The States was a terrible time for our nation it pitted brother against brother and father against son. My Maternal Great Great Grandfather was one Clark L. Cornett from Linesfork, Letcher Co, KY. Clark L. Cornett enlisted in the Union Army August 1st 1863 Irvine, KY and Served in H. Co.47th Inf. Regiment and he mustered out at Lexington KY on December 26th, 1864. My Paternal Great Great Grandfather, William Elvin Chase Jr. joined the Confederate States Army on September 27, 1862 in Knoxville and became a member of the 12th Battalion, Tennessee Cavalry (Day's) and on December 31st, 1862 (3 months later) was killed while charging the enemy. He is buried in a mass grave that contains over 2100 CSA troops in downtown Murfreesboro, Rutherford County, TN one monument is erected there with about 50 names on it. Grandpa Clark Cornett is buried on Island Ford Road in the old Massengill Cemetery in an area that was a Hog and Cattle lot for years. If one doesn't know a cemetery is there you could never tell it by driving by the area. John __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
