From the Knoxville News Sentinel 10 Feb 2005 BLACK, LASSIE DILBECK - age 81, of LaFollette, PROFFITT, EARL (BUDDY) BROOKS - age 63 of Oak Ridge, SHERWOOD, ANDY "KEN" - age 61, of Andersonville, BLACK, LASSIE DILBECK - age 81, of LaFollette, passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2005. She attended Lick Creek Holiness Church. Preceded in death by Husband Luther Black. Survivors; Sons; Charles, Paul & Robert Black; daughter: Ruth Owens; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren. Funeral: 8 p.m. Thursday Cross Chapel Rev. Hansford Bolton, Rev. Rick Howard officiating. Interment: 10 a.m. Friday Davis Cemetery, Stinking Creek. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Cross Funeral Home. PROFFITT, EARL (BUDDY) BROOKS - age 63 of Oak Ridge, died Saturday, January 15, 2005. Preceded in death by: father, Roy Proffitt; son, Buddy Shane Proffitt. Survivors include: mother, Lillie Proffitt; brother, Ronnie Proffitt; sister, Barbara Pelfrey; children, son and daughter-in-law, Thad and Misty Proffitt; daughter, Hope Proffitt; grandchildren, Amberly, Alexis, Alyssa and Bayley. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2005 at Linden Baptist Church, 2341 Jefferson Avenue, Knoxville, 37917, from 6-8:00 pm with Rev. Teddy McCloud officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Linden Baptist Church. SHERWOOD, ANDY "KEN" - age 61, of Andersonville, passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2005 at his residence. Ken was a farmer for many years and worked at the Museum of Appalachia. He was preceded in death by father, Roy B. Sherwood; brothers, Bill & Jack Sherwood; sister, Judy Littleton. Survivors: daughters, Christy Carden & husband Robert of Andersonville, Tessa Sherwood & fiancé Darin McCoy of Andersonville; son, Kenneth "Kenny" Andy Sherwood Jr. of Andersonville; grandsons, Austin, Dakotah, and Hunter "Pug" Carden of Andersonville; mother, Ethel Bailey Sherwood of Andersonville; sisters, Gwen Littleton & husband Frank of Clinton, Sue Moore & husband Greg of Heiskell; brothers, Ancil Sherwood of Clinton, Donnie Sherwood & wife Edna of Knoxville; many nieces and nephews; special friends, James Smith & Mickey Lindsay of Andersonville; host of friends. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, February 10, 2005 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with funeral services following in the chapel with Rev. Larry Ridenour officiating. His burial will be 11:00 AM, Friday, February 11, 2005 at Bethel Valley Cemetery.
