Anderson County News - April 14, 1932 Dewey Carroll, farmer, died early Tuesday at Howard-Henderson hospital from injuries received Monday night in an automobile accident on the highway a mile North of Coal Creek. The body was removed to Clinton Funeral home and prepared for burial. It was later take to the home of Mrs Elizabeth Carroll, mother of the victim. Funeral services were conducted Thursday at 1:30 PM from Pleasant View Baptist church, the Rev Tom Hart officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery, Sulphur Springs council No 802, Jr OUAM, of which he was a member, had charge of services at the grave. Mr Carroll is survived by his widow and two sons; G D and A J Carroll; his mother, Mrs Elizabeth Carroll; one brother, G M Carroll; and two sisters, Mrs Ed Currier and Mrs Richard Phillips. Carroll suffered injuries when an automobile in which he was riding crashed into a parked truck owned by Cumberland Grocery Co of LaFollette Monday night. Maynard Hennegar was reported to have been in the truck. Carroll was accompanied by Gerald Brummitt at the time of the accident. Brummitt escaped with only slight injuries. Her husbands; Jess Martin and John Honey; and another son, Willard Martin all died earlier. The funeral Will be held at 8 PM Tuesday, Aug 25, in the chapel of Holley- Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev Earl Wilson and Rev Donnie Disney officiating. She is also survived by nine step grandchildren; Justin Weaver, Blake Weaver, Shannon Earle, Mackenzie Earle and Albert Earle III, all of Clinton, Sandra Guinn of Lenoir City, Gary Hopwood of Oak Ridge, Steve Keeton of Tyler, Texas, and Wilma Poole of Coco, FL; and by several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The funeral was Saturday, Sep 13, 2003, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev Donnie Disney and the Rev Tom Byrge officiating.
