Notes for Robert Phillips: Anderson County News - Jan 15, 1916 Robert Phillips, aged 18 years, was instantly killed at Briceville last Friday while at work in the mines. He was taking the cars into the mine and at the switch passing the cars going out. It is thought at this place the cars struck a timber knocking it down, letting rock weighing near a ton fall on the young man, crushing out his life. McKinley Braden, while coming out of the mine at Briceville accidentally touched the trolley wire. He was knocked down and a gash two inches long cut on the forehead. Thomas Sanders was injured Friday at Briceville coal mine by falling slate. He was struck on the head and right shoulder, cutting two gashes.
