    3. Clinton Courier March 12, 1970 Mrs. Slover WWI Hero's Widow Dies Mrs. Martha Duncan Slover, 76, mother of the publisher of the Lake City Town Crier, Mrs. Joe E. Day, died at 6:30 p.m.Tuesday in Lake City after a long illness. She was the widow of Robert Slover, a city and county law enforcement officers and highly-decorated World War I veteran.The home is on Hill St. in Lake City.Mrs. Slover was a member of Longfield Baptist Church. She was born in Lake City. Services were to be held at 11 a.m. Thursday (today) in the chapel of Martin Funeral Home in Lake City with the Rev. Charles Noss officiating. Burial was to be in Oak Grove Cemetery north of Lake City. In addition to Mrs. Day, Mrs. Slover leaves two other daughters, Miss. Winnie Mae Slover and Mrs. Ernest Martin, both of Lake City, a son,Robert Slover of Knoxville, and a sister, Mrs. Winnie Reed of Lake City.
