Clinton Courier June 1, 1972 Robert Hayes Dies Friday In Knoxville Robert S. Hayes, 39, of Ridgewood Heights in Cherry Bottom community near Lake City, died at St. Mary's Hospital. He suffered a stroke a week before his death. He was an employee of the Y-12 plant of Union Carbide Corp. in Oak Ridge. He was born in Daisy nut had lived most of his life in Caryville and Lake City area. He was a veteran of the Army service during the Korean War.He was a member of the Vasper Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, and of the Caryville Masonic Lodge. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Eva Mae Hayes, a daughter, Debbie, two sons, Darrell and Danny Hayes, three brothers, Carl Hayes of Middletown, O., LeRoy Hayes of Taylor,Mich. and Ray Hayes of Knoxville, three sisters, Mrs. Garvie Wilson of Taylor, Mrs. James Weeks of Daisy and Mrs. Howard Woodard of Gary, Ind. Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Vasper Baptist Church. The Rev. Elbert Baird and the Rev. Richard Smith officiated. Burial was in the New Vasper Cemetery.
