Hawk, age 69, of Jacksboro, Dorland Silas "Joe" Lay, age 90 of Pioneer Olive Juanita Long, age 60 of Bruce Gap Rd., Caryville, Janet Goins Overton, age 68 of LaFollette Opal Stittums, age 81 of 635 S. Walnut Avenue Jewell Dean Sweeney, age 63 of Jacksboro Caylee Alyssa Nicole Ward, Emma Sue Richardson Adcock, age 73 of LaFollette passed away July 1 at the U.T. Medical Center in Knoxville. She was a member of Demory Baptist Church. She loved flowers and gardening. She was a butterfly collector and a craft collector. She loved her family very much. She was preceded in death by her son, Billie Wayne Adcock; parents, Carl and Anna Mae Moffett Richardson.; sister, Carolyn Ann Richardson Albright Kolz. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Billie Carden Adcock of LaFollette; son and special friend, Ronald David Adcock and Beth both of Dayton, TN; son and daughter in law, Larry Joe and Kim Adcock of Farmersville, OH; daughters and sons in law, Sharon Gail and Terry Krull of West Carrollton, OH, Cheryl Ann and Mike Meier of Carlisle, OH: grandchildren, Jessica, Mike, Melissa, Lindsey, Amanda and Joe; five great grandchildren; brothers and sisters in law, Carl Dennis and Barbara Richardson of Portage, IN, Jerry Lee and Nancy Richardson of Knox, IN: sisters and brothers in law, Wilma and Leon Lawson and Joyce and George Wilson all of Caryville; several nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held July 2 in the Martin Wilson Chapel with the Rev. Ray Siler officiating. Interment was in the Campbell Memorial Gardens. She was a member of Ivey Dell Pentecostal Holiness Church. Jeannie loved to spend time with her grandchildren. She always said that they were her pride and joy. Her life was serving the Lord and she loved all her loved ones. She was preceded in death by her son, Brian Pascal Campbell; parents, James and Dorothy Bolinger; sister, Shirley Bolinger. She is survived by her husband, LC. Campbell of LaFollette; son and daughter in law, Michael and Margie Campbell of LaFollette; daughter and son in law, Mary and Adam Hensley of Ewing, Va; brothers, Glenn, Tim and Jeffery Bolinger of Rock Creek Community and Gary Bolinger of Caryville; sisters, Kathy Johnson of Jacksboro, Mary Campbell and Zandra Welden both of LaFollette; grandchildren, Christina and Hunter Hensley of Ewing, Va, Levi Campbell of LaFollette; several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. He was a member of LaFollette First Baptist Church, a former chief of police, was listed in the Hall of Congress, and a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving as a paratrooper. He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Hawk; mother, Violet Hawk; sister, Hazel Hawk and first wife, Shirley Hawk. He is survived by his wife, Patsy Hawk of Jacksboro; daughter, Cheryl Redford and husband, Bill of Oak Ridge; grandchildren, Josh Redford and Abby Redford both of Oak Ridge; brother, Rev. Robert Hawke and wife, Jean, Missionary Ministers to Mexico; sister, Barbara Jean Ratliff and husband, Willis of Carlisle, OH; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held June 29 at Walters Chapel with his brother, Rev. Robert Hawke officiating. Interment was in the Highland Memorial Cemetery in Knoxville. Walters Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. LaFollette Press July 5, 2007 Dorland Silas "Joe" Lay, age 90 of Pioneer passed away June 27 at the Jellico Community Hospital. He was a member of New Canaan Baptist Church. He loved raising flowers and mowing yards. He also loved gardening and his family very much. He was preceded in death by his wives, Evonne Lay and Ledora Phillips; daughter, Natomi Lay; parents,: Bill and Lola Lloyd Lay; four brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his wife, Lecia Lay of Pioneer; son, Silas Lewallen of Ill; daughters, Naomi Simpson of Ala, Martha Ann Cotner of LaFollette; step daughter, Susan Hicks of Newcomb; 12 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held June 30 at New Canaan Baptist Church with Rev. Al Byrd and Rev. Adam Hunley officiating. Interment was in the Terry Creek Cemetery. She was a member of Lake View Baptist Church. She loved bowling, canning, gardening and loved yard sales. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Long; parents, Homer R.L. and Hazel Daugherty Evans. She is survived by her sons and daughters in law, Robert and Shawn Long of Caryville, Troy and Laura Long of LaFollette,. Lance and Wendy Long of Caryville; daughters and sons in law, Angie and Kevin Cox of Clinton and Pam and Dale Hatmaker of Caryville; brothers, Charles Dean Evans of Jacksboro, James and Homer Lee Evans both of Caryville; sisters, Kathy Cureton of Jacksboro and Sandra Harness of LaFollette; 15 grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. LaFollette Press July 5, 2007 Janet Goins Overton, age 68 of LaFollette passed away June 26 at St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. She was a member of Forks Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Earl Overton and father, Thurman Goins. She is survived by her sons, Kevin Overton of LaFollette and Doug Overton of Knoxville; mother, Mrs. Cleda L. Goins; brother Glen Goins and wife, Deloris; special friend, Buddy Bolinger all of LaFollette; several other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held June 28 at Walters Chapel with Rev. LaFollette Press July 5, 2007 Opal Stittums, age 81 of 635 S. Walnut Avenue passed away June 27 at 9:20 a.m. at her residence. She was born on August 26, 1925 in Campbell County. She was the daughter of the late James Harvey and Mary Elizabeth (Parker) Sharp. On June 15, 1946 she married John Cecil Stittums who preceded her in death in 1984. She was employed by the former GC Murphy Store as a clerk for many years. She loved gardening, sewing, and crocheting. She was a member of the Grace Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Stanley (Brenda) Bear of Dayton, OH; son, Gary Stittums of Sidney, OH; step daughter, Wava Paulus of Ft. Loramie, OH; grandchildren, Greg VanAusdal. Christina, Melissa, Tiffany, Jennifer and Cameron Stittums, three great grandchildren; sister, Emma Jean Woodson; brother, James Robert Sharp and Nobel R.L. Sharp all of LaFollette. Funeral services were held July 2 in the Martin Wilson Chapel with Rev. Charles Sparks officiating. Interment was in the Woodlawn Cemetery. LaFollette Press July 5, 2007 Jewell Dean Sweeney, age 63 of Jacksboro passed away Sunday, June 17, 2007 at her home. Mrs. Sweeney was a member of Lake View Baptist Church. She loved to sew and she loved her dog, Lady Bird. She also loved her family and especially her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Arvel Chambers; and her sister, Wilma Jean Jenkins. She is survived by her husband, Rev. Ballard Boone Sweeney of Jacksboro; daughters, Elaine Sweeney Wilburn of Jacksboro, Connie S. Powers of Caryville, Annette Sweeney of Clinton; mother, Flora Cross Chambers of Danville, Illinois; 5 grandsons; brother, Arlen Chambers of Missouri; sister, Betty L. Freeman and Rita Sue Schmidt both of Danville; several nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral Service were Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at Lake View Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Stanley and Rev. Danny Wilson officiating. Interment followed in Valley View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to the Campbell County Cancer Association.
