Predeceased by his parents, Roscoe Carlisle d'Armand and Virginia Luck Berger d'Armand, he is survived by sisters, Nilla Buckley, Rose d'Armand Carpenter, and Virginia Carlisle "Penny" d'Armand of Knoxville; and by his brother, Dr. John Berger d'Armand and wife, Susanne, of Auke Bay, Alaska, as well as by several nieces and nephews. The family and friends will meet Thursday, July 5, 2007, at Highland Memorial Cemetery for a 1 p.m. graveside service, conducted by Dr. Steve McDonald, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Oak Ridge. Mary Lee "Chic" Hill, 77, of Oak Ridge, passed away at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge on June 30, 2007. She was born on Jan. 26, 1930, in DeKalb County, Ala., to parents Roy Lee and Ethyl Crumley Williamson. Mrs. Hill was preceded in death by husband, Rufus Thomas "R.T." Hill Jr., on Aug. 23, 1996; granddaughter, Jordan, on Nov. 14, 2005; sisters, Alene Ryan and Doris Catlin; and by a brother, Carl Williamson. Survivors include, sons, Jeff Hill and wife, Teresa, of Duluth, Ga., and Scott Hill and wife, Lisa, of Maryville; daughter, Linda Hill Link and husband, Galen, of Merritt Island, Fla.; brother, Hoyt Williamson, of Collinsville, Ala.; sisters, Martha Duncan and husband, Clyde, of Greenwood, Ind., and Margaret Neilson of Alabaster, Ala.; and by grandchildren, Justin Hill, Victoria Link, Austin Link, and Haley Hill. She was a loving mother and wife to Linda, Jeff and Scott and the late R.T. Hill of 46 years. She was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian for more than 47 years. Mrs. Hill was personnel manager at Proffitt's Department Store for 15 years. She was an avid Tennessee sports fan and enjoyed watching Atlanta Braves baseball. She enjoyed playing cards and working crossword puzzles with a special friend, Fred Holtzclaw. Robin Douglas Hobgood, age 69, a resident of Oliver Springs, died Sunday, July 1, 2007, at his home. He was born June 29, 1938, in Washington, D.C., and moved to Oliver Springs in June 1990. Mr. Hobgood served our country for 26 years in the U.S. Air Force, including two tours in Vietnam. After retiring from the military, he worked for 20 years in security. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Bixler Hobgood Jr. and Ruth Margaret Foushee Hobgood; and by his son, Russell Hobgood. Survivors: wife, Sandra Louise Hobgood of Oliver Springs; daughters, Cassandra Chittum and husband, Gene, of Georgia, Elizabeth Hobgood of Arizona, and Jennifer Hobgood Goins and husband, Jamie, of Clinton; sons, Robin Hobgood Jr. and wife, Ruth, of Georgia, Richard Hobgood of Arizona, Walter Wayne of Kingston, Eric Wayne and wife, Arettia, of Pigeon Forge, and Michael A. Online register book available at www.sharpfh.com. James D. "Jim" Shelton, age 73, of Oak Ridge, died May 22, 2007, at Methodist Medical Center after suffering a massive stroke. He was probably best known for being named All-American when he graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1952. He was an outstanding full-back. He went on to play at Auburn and Memphis State. No matter where Jim lived or worked he considered Tennessee home and was a true Tennessee fan. He retired from Union Carbide after 35 years of service. Jim was also an entrepreneur. He started up several area businesses over the years. He was an avid sports enthusiast and really enjoyed playing golf and fishing. Jim also loved traveling to Arizona where his daughters and grandchildren lived. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Shelton; his step-father, Kirby Duke; his mother, Eleanor Duke; and his brother, Tom Shelton. Survivors include his eldest daughter, Jamia Jenkins, and fiance, Scott Renshaw, and granddaughter, Kendall Lowery of Arizona; grandson, Desmond Holt of Florida; youngest daughter, Leslie Webb, and son-in-law, Scott Webb, and grandsons, Garrett and Delaney Harbin of Arizona. Jim lived life to the fullest and would want to be remembered that way. Jim was cremated and the family will have a private service at a later date. Henry L. Eubank, age 73, of Newport, Tenn., passed away Monday evening, June 25, 2007, at Baptist Hospital of Cocke County. He was a descendant of Frederick and James Swagerty of Cocke County, ancestral members of the first families of Tennessee. George came to Oak Ridge in 1945 with his parents and family. He attended the Oak Ridge Schools, and graduated in 1951 at the newly completed Oak Ridge High School. George was a member of the ORHS "Wildcat" Band. He played trumpet in a local dance band known as the Rhythm-aires. He was a member of the ORHS National Honor Society. He was a member of the ORHS Track Team, competing in the pole vaulting events. George graduated in 1955 from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a member of the UT Pride of the Southland Band. During his junior year, George was president of his Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. Completing the ROTC course at UT, upon graduation he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant and served with the Army Corps of Engineers, stationed at New Rouchelle, France. He was married in 1955 to Miss Beatrice Schilz of Arlington, Va. George worked for Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, Wash., during the late 1950s and early 1960s. From the mid-1960s until his retirement in the 1990s, George was with the Forenta Corporation, and its subsidiary Norco, Inc. located in Morristown, Tenn. During his time with Forenta, he was a member of the Toastmasters Association. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Arleigh Eubank; parents, William Arleigh and Bonnie K. Eubank; and brother, William Mims Eubank. He is survived by his spouse, Beatrice Eubank of the home; children, Lisa Dale Eubank and Lauren Rosanna Eubank, both of Newport; daughter-in-law, Beth Perryman Eubank of Newport; sisters, Betty Eubank Burch and Teta Eubank Wagner, both of Oak Ridge; sisters-in-law, Arlene Feidt of Cherry Hill, N.J., and Sheila Eubank of Knoxville; nieces, Kimberly Dumphy of Cherry Hill, N.J., and Jennifer Eubank Zachoski of Knoxville; nephew, Gerald Feidt Jr. of Cherry Hill, N.J. The funeral for George was held Thursday evening, June 28, 2007, at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home in Newport. Pastor Jim Loftis of the Fellowship Presbyterian Church in Newport officiated. The Rev. Loftis officiated at the burial on Friday morning, June 29, 2007, in the Union Cemetery in Newport. A Military Honor Guard attended and Taps were played. Dorothy L. Powell, age 84, of Clinton and a member of the Clinton Church of God, passed away Monday, July 2, 2007, at Windwood Health Care Center. She was born Sept. 10, 1922, in Owensboro, Ky., and was the daughter of the late Augustine and Minnie Nugent Powell. During Dorothy's life she won first place at the Kentucky State Track Championship in 1935 and her award was a free trip to the White House where she met the 32nd President, Franklin D. Roosevelt. Dorothy was a veteran of the U.S. Navy for five years and spent two years working for the Southern Pacific Railroad in Portland, Ore. She was a lifetime member of the Radio CB Club in Hawaii and Alaska. She also enjoyed motorcycle riding and hunting. In 1978, she became a chartered member of the McGhee Tyson Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol and transferred to the Oak Ridge Squadron in 1988. One of her last accomplishments in life was she attained the rank of Lt. Col. in the Civil Air Patrol in 1992. Dorothy was preceded in death by a sister, Sylvia Champion. Survivors include her special friends, Susan and Kenny Byrd of Clinton, Lt. Col. Rick Grindstaff, CAP of Knoxville; and a host of other cousins and friends. Alpha Mae Prewitt, 82, of Oak Ridge, Tenn., passed away on Tuesday, July 3, 2007, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Born in Laurel County, Ky., to the late Robert and Stella Durham Whitaker, she was a homemaker and was a member of the Laurel River Missionary Baptist Church in Laurel County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Charles Helfenberger of Oak Ridge; three brothers, Joe Whitaker of Oak Ridge, Herbert Whitaker of London and George Whitaker of London; and brother-in-law, James White of Lexington. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Leslie Prewitt of Oak Ridge; her daughter, Joan Miller and husband, Thomas, of Oak Ridge; grandchildren, Michael Miller and wife, Kristin, of Decatur, Ga., Anna White and husband, Brad, of Camden, Ark., Kenneth Miller and wife, Cristi, of Oak Ridge, and John Miller of Oak Ridge; great-grandchildren, Jake, Ryan and Brady Miller of Decatur, Ga., BriAnna, Jaime and Dylan White of Camden, Ark., and Karmen and Samantha Miller of Oak Ridge; sisters, Mary Wagner and husband, Damon, of Largo, Fla., Ivel White of Lexington, Ky., and Sarah Sherman and husband, Inman, of London, Ky.; sisters-in-law, Elain Whitaker of Oak Ridge, and Elma Whitaker of London; and numerous nieces and nephews, all who mourn her passing.
