He retired from General Motors in Detroit, MI, where he had worked as a grinder in the Tool and Die Department. He was also a United States Navy veteran who served during World War II. He is survived by his wife of 56 years; Lucille Alred of Clinton; a son, Gary Alred and his wife, Jill, of Sterling Heights, MI; a grandson, William and Jennifer Alred of St. Clair Shores, MI; two great-granddaughters, Brianna and Kailee Alred of St. Clair Shores, MI; a sister, Cecil Fritts and her husband, Charles, of Clinton; a brother, John Alred and his wife, Eloise, of Knoxville; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; William and Harriett Ridenour Alred; sister, Sylvia Allred; and brothers, Roy and Bonnie Allred. The funeral mass will be 8 PM Friday, Jan 24, at St Therese Catholic Church, with Father Gerard Finucane officiating. Interment will be 11 AM Saturday at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Clinton. The family will receive 6 to 8 PM Friday night at th e church building. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home of Clinton in charge of all arrangements. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She was preceded in death by parents; William and Harriett Allred; brothers, Jesse, Roy, and Bonnie Allred; sister, Sylvie Allred. Survivors: husband; Charles Edward Fritts of Clinton; daughters, Nancy Tidwell and husband, Clellan of Pioneer, Wanda Loyd and husband, Pete of Powell; grandchildren, Brian Loyd of Knoxville, Jeff Loyd of Clinton, Melanie Henderlight of Norris, Kendra Headrick of Norris; 10 great grandchildren; brother, John Allred of Karns; many nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
