The Town Crier April 20, 1993 Lake City Resident, Long-Time Police Officer Dies Suddenly Carl Edward (Jargo) McMillian, age 64, of Watts St. Lake City, died suddenly Monday, April 19, while at work. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lake City. Mr. McMillian was employed by the Anderson County Sheriff's Dept. having started his law enforcement work Sept. 1, 1968 and working under six different sheriffs. He was a member of Coal Creek Lodge #492 F&AM and was a 32nd Scottish Rite Mason and I.O.O.F. Weldon #181. He was also a member of Anderson County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #25 and a member of the National Sheriff's Association. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. Mr. McMillian was born August 30, 1928, in Anderson County, son of the late Frank and Vada Jones McMillian. He was preceded in death by his half-brother, Clyde McMillian. Mr. McMillian is survived by his wife, Wilma Hatmaker McMillian of Lake City, son, Gregory S. McMillian and daughter, Amy McMillian, sister, Louise Massengill and half-sister, Geneva Housely, all of Lake City. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 22, at Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Foust and Wayne Hubbs officiating. Interment in Oak Grove Cemetery with law enforcement honors. The family will receive friends 6:30-8:30 p.m Wednesday with Masonic Services following at Cox Funeral Home in Lake City.
