    2. >From the Oak Ridger 13 Jul 2007 Mary Stuart Beil, age 61, of 105 Newkirk Lane, Oak Ridge, Benjamin Reeves "Buck" Perry, age 67, of Oak Ridge, Tenn., and formerly of Knoxville, Dorothy Estes Ritchie, 83, of Oak Ridge, Gary Steward, 57, a resident of Kingsport, formerly of Oliver Springs, Many are already aware of the tragic death of Mary Stuart Beil, age 61, of 105 Newkirk Lane, Oak Ridge, on the morning of July 4, 2007, as the result of an automobile collision at the intersection of Illinois Avenue and Oak Ridge Turnpike. She was transported by Lifestar air ambulance and died later that day. Mary recently moved from Oregon to East Tennessee to be near her parents who live in a retirement community in North Carolina. She joined the staff of the general accounting team of Marriott Hotels in December of last year. After serving for many years in executive accountant positions in New Mexico, California and Oregon, she returned to her native east Tennessee. Having been born in Johnson City, she had a connection with, and a passion for this region. She held undergraduate and graduate degrees from Vanderbilt University in Nashville and was a Certified Management Accountant and a member of the Institute of Management Accountants She is survived by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Robert J. Beil of North Carolina; and by aunts, Flora Jean Waite of Florida, and Betty Clements of Pennsylvania; and an uncle, James Beil and wife, Joan of New Jersey. Local survivors include her uncle, the Rev. Alexander M. Stuart and his wife, Marylee, of Clinton; cousin, David A. Stuart, his wife Sarah, and their children Adriana and Rebecca Stuart of Oak Ridge, and by cousin Stephen Stuart of Clinton. A memorial service will be held at Tryon Estates in North Carolina on Tuesday, July 17, 2007, with the Rev. Ralph Kuether officiating. Her family, friends, and all who knew her will miss her gentle, quiet but effective presence. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 78851, Phoenix, AZ 85062-8851. Benjamin Reeves "Buck" Perry, age 67, of Oak Ridge, Tenn., and formerly of Knoxville, died peacefully July 11, 2007, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Buck was the former owner of Perry's Bug Shop in Oak Ridge. Buck was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Helen Perry. He is survived by his loving daugters and sons-in-law, Renee and Shawn Hinson of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Michelle Dunn-Bird and Mark Bird of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; grandchildren, Nicolette and husband, Travis Christensen, Angelica Costanzo, Zackery Dunn and Richard Bird; great-grandsons, Adrian and Dylan Christensen; sisters and brothers-in-law, Martha and Bob Tidwell and Darlene and Dale Memmott; and brother, Butch Perry. Funeral service will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel with the Rev. Stanley Green officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel. www.rosemortuary.com. Dorothy Estes Ritchie, 83, of Oak Ridge, died Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at her home. Born Feb. 11, 1924, in Georgetown, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Alice Hamilton Estes and Harvey Moore Estes. Mrs. Ritchie attended business school and the University of Kentucky, and was employed at the Kentucky Utilities Company for several years. A longtime resident of Oak Ridge, she married Rufus H. Ritchie on Dec. 2, 1944, in Cambridge, Mass. Mrs. Ritchie traveled to many places in the course of her husband's work. She was an accomplished hostess while residing in the U.S. and abroad for the many scientists who visited the family. She lived with her family for extended periods in Denmark, in Cambridge, England, in Lexington, Ky., in Las Vegas, Nev., and for numerous shorter times in the Basque Country in North Central Spain. After returning from a stay in India, where she learned doll-making from the American Women's Club of Bombay, she organized a similar informal group who made dolls for the Oak Ridge Holiday Bureau for more than 20 years. She won many blue ribbons in flower arranging competitions, was a member of the Arissa Garden Club, studied art for years at the Oak Ridge Community Art Center, enjoyed painting, playing piano and organ, and was active in the First Baptist Church of Oak Ridge. Bridge was a favorite of hers and she was instrumental in establishing a bridge club from membership in the Church. She enjoyed doing volunteer work in the Pink Placebo at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge and at the Recording for the Blind for many years. Mrs. Ritchie has two children, Susan Ritchie Snowden of Phoenix, Ariz., and David Alan Ritchie of Peachtree City, Ga.; a son-in-law, Ralph Snowden and a daughter-in-law, Gina P. Ritchie; seven grandchildren, June Ritchie of Denver, Colo., Dan Witkowski of Telluride, Colo., Sonya Austin-Kim of Dallas, Texas, and Sean Austin of Austin, Texas, Alex Ritchie, Krista Ritchie, and Becca Ritchie of Peachtree City, Ga.; and five great-grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. Emma E. Crawford, lives in Indianapolis, Ind.; a brother, Elza F. Estes and Obie Estes died earlier. She was a member of Grace Covenant Church for several years prior to her death. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Grace Covenant Church, P.O 4575, Oak Ridge, TN 37831, or to the Dorothy and Rufus Ritchie Scholarship Fund for undergraduate study at the University of Tennessee Department of Physics, 1408 Circle Drive, Knoxville, TN 37996-1200. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 15, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Larry K. Dipboye, Grace Covenant Church, and Pastor Michael Crawford, Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Mulberry, Ind., officiating. Music will be provided by Charlotte Bowers, organist. Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday from noon until 2 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary.
