Medical Center. Beulah was preceded in death by her father, Alex Lupton Gardner; mother, Frances Beulah Jones Gardner; brother, Alex Gardner, Jr. and wife, June, brother, Frank Davis; and sister, Juanita Davis Oran. She was a member of South Harriman Baptist Church for 51 years, and retired in 1990 as Assistant Manager of the local Sears Catalog Store. To her family, she was the world's greatest wife, mother and grandmother. Survivors are: husband: David Byrd of Harriman; daughter: Theresa Byrd Browder of Chattanooga; son: Terry M. Byrd and wife, Annette, of Harriman; brothers: H.R. (Henry) Gardner and wife, Mary, of Cocoa Beach, FL, Bill Gardner and wife, Lou, of Powder Springs, GA, Bob Gardner and wife, Alice, of Merritt Island, FL; sister in law, Jean Davis of Vermillion, Ohio; former daughter-in-law: Mary Lea Byrd/Sullivan and husband, Robert, of Harriman; grandchildren: Leslea and Eric Byrd of Harriman, Matt and Alex Browder of Chattanooga, Brandon Temple of Harriman. Funeral service 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 12, at South Harriman Baptist Church, with Rev. Edsel West, Rev. Randy Maxwell and Ken Isham officiating. Interment will follow in Roane Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Helfenberger was born June 25, 1927 in London, Kentucky to Robert and Stella Whitaker. She is a member of First Baptist Church and Eastern Star Chapter #390. Mrs. Helfenberger enjoyed baking, sewing and gardening. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by: her brothers Joe and Herbert Whitaker. She is survived by: her husband of 55 years, Charles Edward Helfenberger; one son, David Helfenberger and his wife, Shelley of Morristown; two daughters, Diane Clark and her husband, Randy of Knoxville, Deborah H.
