From the Oak Ridger 13 Dec 2004 Janie Robert Helfenberger, 77, of Oak Ridge, Oscar Virgil Rayfield, 85, of Clinton, Willie Mae Rayfield, 74, of Clinton, Diana Smith, 48, a lifelong resident of East Tennessee, Olaf Linden Daugherty, age 68, of Harriman, Janie Robert Helfenberger, 77, of Oak Ridge, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004, at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Mrs. Helfenberger was born June 25, 1927, in London, Ky., to Robert and Stella Whitaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter No. 390. Mrs. Helfenberger enjoyed baking, sewing and gardening. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Joe and Herbert Whitaker. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Charles Edward Helfenberger; her son, David Helfenberger and wife, Shelley, of Morristown; her daughters, Diane Clark and husband, Randy, of Knoxville, and Deborah H. Sumner and husband, Jim, of Kingston; her brother, George Whitaker of London, Ky.; her sisters, Mary Wagner of Largo, Fla., Alpha Prewitt of Oak Ridge, Ival White of Lexington, Ky., and Sarah Shermon of London, Ky.; her grandchildren, Ryan Helfenberger of Morristown, Andrew Clark of Knoxville, and Christopher Clark and wife, Michelle, of Cumming, Ga.; and her great-grandchild, Keenen Clark, also of Cumming. The funeral will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004, in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Bobby Mullins officiating. The graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Oscar Virgil Rayfield, 85, of Clinton, died Friday, Dec. 10, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge due to injuries received in an automobile accident with his wife, Willie Mae. He was a member of Farmers Grove Baptist Church. He also was a veteran of the U. S. Army who served in World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ashley and Ella Myers Rayfield; his sisters, Grace Johnson and Nell Rayfield; and his brothers, Vernard Ulysses and Loy Rayfield. He is survived by his daughters, Gloria Gadd and husband, John, and Janie Mack and husband, Terry; his grandchildren, Jordan and Ashlyn Gadd and Charity and Josh Mack; his brother, Roy Rayfield and wife, Betty; his sister-in-law, Ruby Rayfield; and his brother-in-law, Carl Ray Johnson, all of Clinton; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004, at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Moss Beets officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. The family has requested memorials be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 409410, Atlanta, GA 30384-9410, or the American Diabetes Association, 900 E. Hill Avenue, Suite 240, Knoxville, TN 37915. She is survived by her daughters, Gloria Gadd and husband, John, and Janie Mack and husband, Terry; her grandchildren, Jordan and Ashlyn Gadd and Charity and Josh Mack, all of Clinton; her brother, Cleveland Loy and wife, Bernice, of Oak Ridge; her sisters, Tressie Johnson of Clinton, Flora Register of Knoxville, and Flossie Loy of Chattanooga; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004, at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Moss Beets officiating. Diana Smith, 48, a lifelong resident of East Tennessee, died Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004, at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. She was born Oct. 3, 1956, in Oak Ridge. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Sunrise Chapter No. 364. She was employed by CPS Innovations in Maryville, where she had worked for the past five years as a detector assembler for manufacturing medical imaging equipment. She was preceded in death by her parents, Owen C. Harris Jr. and Vivian Ruth Ramsey Harris; a brother, Kenneth Harris; and a sister, Sheena Ward. She is survived by her husband, Ram Smith of Oliver Springs; her brothers, Owen C. Harris and wife, Clara, of Bitter Creek, Paul Harris and wife, Lori, of Petros, Larry Harris and wife, Dean, of Joyner, and Tim Harris and wife, Cindy, of Coalfield; her sisters, Deborah Baker and husband, John, of Rockwood, and Lisa Armes and husband, K. T., of Oakdale; her nieces, Caine Lough of Oakdale and Alisha Nance of Mossy Grove; her special friends, Freda, Louise, Shirley and Marvin; and a host of nephews, extended family members, and special friends. She also had several cats that she loved very much. The funeral was at 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs. Preacher Robert Combs officiated. Burial and a graveside service were at 2 p.m. Sunday at Anderson Memorial Gardens. Olaf Linden Daugherty, age 68, of Harriman, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004, at his home.
