LEMMIE J. - age 94 of Lancing, SYKES, MARY G. - of Kingston WATSON, LEONARD E. - BOWMAN, LILLIAN MCNEILL - of Alcoa, formerly of LaFollette passed away Saturday, December 18, 2004, at Blount Memorial Hospital in Maryville. She was a member of the Alcoa First United Methodist Church and Christian Fellowship Sunday School Class. She was a retired Campbell County teacher having spent most of her teaching at East LaFollette in the primary department. She was very social and civic minded, a member of Delta Gamma International Society, President of LaFollette Garden Club, organized and led a Girl Scout Troop, and member of Business and Professional Women's Organization. She is the last survivor of eight siblings born to the family of the late William Ashley McNeill and Mattie Obedia Owens McNeill. Brothers and sisters who preceded her were Louella Hudson, Carrie Mae Reynolds, Elmer, Charles, Carl, John, and Earl. Survivors include her husband, William E. (Ted) Bowman of Alcoa; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services Monday 1 P.M. at Walters Chapel with Rev. Joe Green, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Alcoa officiating. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 P.M. LEMMIE J. - age 94 of Lancing, passed away Friday, December 17, 2004 in the Life Care Center of Morgan County. He was a member of the Clear Creek Baptist Church. He retired from Southern Railroad with over 40 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Cora Melton Potter; wife, Annabelle Davis Potter; grandson, Tim Rich; son-in-law, Bob Riley; and several brothers and sisters. He is survived by his son, Paul and (Marian) Potter of Lancing; daughters: Maisel and (Thomas) Harney of Lancing, Melba and (Walter) Rich of Lancing, Wilda Jo and (Jim) Rich of York, S.C., Sharon and (Lester) Heidel of Wartburg, and Gayle and (Bobby) Hamby of Wartburg. Six grandsons: Stephen Potter, Wally Rich, Bobby Riley Jr., Lester Lee Heidel II, Bobby Rusty Hamby, and Travis Hamby. Four granddaughters: Terri Armes, Penny Hamby, Tonya Wilkes, and Paula Kilby. Eighteen great, grandchildren and three great, great, grandchildren. brother, Clea Potter of Lancing and sister, Faye Bowman of Ohio. The family will receive friends Monday evening, December 20th, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg. Funeral services will follow at 7:30 with Rev. Arthur Nance, Jr. officiating. Graveside service will be held Tuesday morning at 11:00 a.m. in the Morgan Memorial Gardens. SYKES, MARY G. - of Kingston passed away Friday December 17, after suffering a massive stroke, at the age of 82. Mary and her husband, James B. (Jim) Sykes, moved from Oak Ridge to Kingston in 1952. Mary worked at the X-10 Plant at Oak Ridge and in the Roane County Clerk's Office during the 50's and 60's. Mary was a member of the Kingston United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and was involved in many other activities, including corporate ministries and her ministry at the Jamestown Nursing Home. Mary had many special friends in Kingston who were helpful to her in her later years, to whom her family is very thankful. Mary is survived by her sons, Randy and Jimmy Sykes; daughters-in-law, Carrie and Sara Sykes; grandchildren, Chris Sykes and wife, Terri, Casey Higginbotham and husband, Michael and Jamie Bagwell and husband, Keith; and, great granddaughters Jessie and Macy. Funeral 2 pm Monday December 20, 2004 at the Kingston United Methodist Church with Rev. Michelle Buckles officiating. Burial in Kingston Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial donations to the Kingston United Methodist Church 212 W. Church Street Kingston, TN. 37763 in her memory. He was born March 24, 1923 in Monroe County to Enos and Josie Cole Watson. He was a civil engineer and former manager of the LaFollette Electric Dept. He was also an Army veteran of WW II. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Wilma Watson of LaFollette, Tenn. and 3 grandchildren, Robert L., Kevin M. and Linda Y. Welch all of Knoxville. His family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. EST with a 1 p.m. funeral at Bilbrey Funeral Home in Crossville. Burial will be in Green Acres Memory Gardens.
