NASHVILLE, Tenn., Dec. 29.—Lem Jones was hanged at Oliver Springs Monday for the murder of his wife and child on June 26, 1890. Jones fled and disguising himself worked as a herdsman on a Texas ranch for three months before he was caught. The prisoner had been county superintendent of schools and a deacon in the baptist church, and every effort was made to have a respite granted, but the governor refused to favor him.
