    2. Yankee Private Gives Dead Reds Religious Burial With U. S. First Cavalry Division, Korea. Pfc. William M. Cross, Devonia, Tenn., thought 12 communist soldiers should have some kind of religious service at their burial. So as each was lowered into the grave, the Tennessee soldier read the following passage from St. John: "I am the light of the world; he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness but shall have the light of life". Empty 75mm shell cases were used to mark the graves scattered on a North Korean hillside. "I did the best I could", said Cross. Sheboygan Press, Sheboygan, Wisconsin, October 24, 1951
