    3. I remember the Yablonski murders. I was about 13 at the time. My dad being an ex coal miner, along with the fact that the national news media was shooting scenes from Lafollette's streets, it was sort of interesting. I believe one of the guns was traced to Campbell County. If I am not mistaken it was traced to a local law enforcement officer who had sold it to a local doctor where it was stolen months earlier. I believe the murders happened on or near New Years Eve 1969. Their is a movie starring Charles Bronson about the murders. It is also called "An Act Of Vengeance" John, If you would be interested in seeing it, try that video store at Jacksboro near the Jacksboro Middle School. "First Run Video" I think. If I remember correctly, the FBI Arrested Albert Pass on the Street in Lake City. Albert was a UMWA official. That incident should in no way reflect on the UMWA as an organization. It just had very corrupt officials at that time. --Gerald -----Original Message----- From: Kay Adams <adam9419@bellsouth.net> To: TNANDERS-L@rootsweb.com <TNANDERS-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Sunday, January 30, 2005 2:54 PM Subject: Re: [TNANDERS-L] Re: Yablonski murders http://www.appalachianpower.com/yablonski%20murder.htm ==== TNANDERS Mailing List ==== Please do not write your message with CAPS on. 3. Hi Gerald, This is very true nothing should be judged by the actions of a few but the majority of us HUMANS still do! John L. Lewis has and will always be one of my hero's. I can still on occasions see his Photo on the walls of older people in the region. I was having one of those Brain Power Moments when you can't remember what happened 30 minutes ago let along 35 years back. A young fellow that lives next door was asking me questions about the events and I couldn't remember the name of the book or the movie for anything, I could remember "Buddy" who lived around the corner from a cousin on Payne Ave and some of the locals but that was about it. Also one of the Detectives from Cleveland that was working with the FBI on the case fell in Love with Norris Lake and the area so when he retired from the Cleveland P.D. he relocated to the area and purchased the Shanghai Boat Dock. He later sold out and moved off for Florida. Back in the early 1970's an Author wrote a book about some of the exploits of this C.P.D. Homicide Detective and his boss, Pat Joyce and I have been racking my brain trying to remember the title of the book and the writer. I can't remember if he was a Plain Dealer Reporter turned Author but I have checked through Barnes and Noble and can't seem to hit on anything. And the sites from the Libraries in OH want a State ID from OHIO your left leg, right arm and still a resident of the State before they will let you into their sites. SO, I was hoping that I might get lucky and Angela would find an old newspaper clipping that just might mention the Detective and the writer if he was a Plain Dealer reporter. I can remember James Neff but he wrote on organized crime, the Cleveland Wars,Bill and Jackie Presser from the Teamsters. Oh well maybe if I think on it for a few days, weeks or months it will come back to me. John __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
