Simcox, 89, of Oak Ridge, Donald Thomas Stoetzel, 33, of Oliver Springs and Oak Ridge, Ned Adams Thurmer, 87, a resident of Oliver Springs, Tina D. Drummond, 39, of Oak Ridge and formerly of Clinton, Ann Freeman, 96, of Oak Ridge, Robert Arthur Ebel, 86, of Oak Ridge, Harold Tinker, a resident of Coalfield, Ollie Wilson Brown, 95, of Clinton, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. She was a member of Clinton First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Maggie Jennings Wilson; her brothers, Clarence and John L. Wilson; and a sister, Irene Wilson. Mrs. Brown is survived by her son, Joe Russell Brown Jr. of Oak Ridge; her daughter, Nancy and husband, Ray Daugherty, of Oak Ridge; her brother, Dewey Carleton and wife, Darlis Wilson, of Memphis; her sisters, Kathleen Christopher of Kingston and Dorothy Hatmaker of Lake City; her granddaughter, Sylvia and husband, Todd McGhee, of Knoxville; her step-granddaughters, Henrietta and husband, Bob McWhorter, of Milledgeville, Ga., and Marie and husband, Warren Biddle, of Knoxville; her great-grandchildren, Dennis and Kristen McGhee of Knoxville; and several nieces and nephews, all of whom Mrs. Brown considered special. The family will have a graveside service at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, at Sunset Cemetery in Clinton with the Rev. Terry Baker officiating. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of all arrangements. Betsy Marie Hawn Ray, 42, of Clinton, went to be with the Lord Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Vester Jackson and William Maynard Hawn, and her sisters, Geraldine Duncan and Francis Ellison. She is survived by her husband, Robert Ray of Clinton; her mother, Nellie Ruth Hawn; her father, Vester Maynard Hawn; brothers, James Donald and wife, Sarah Hawn, and Joseph Eric Hawn, all of Oliver Springs, and Ronald Paul and wife, Ethel Hawn, of Clinton; sisters, Carolyn Sue and husband, Bud Underwood, of Kingston, Margaret and husband, Jim York, of Oliver Springs, Patricia and husband, Joe Shubert, of Cleveland, Wilma Rose and husband, Danny Freeman, of Riceville, Zola and husband, Tony Brown, of Oliver Springs, Rebecca and husband, Paul Kendig, of Clinton; godchildren, Adam Bridges, Tabitha Scott, and Alexis and Noah Parsons; 38 nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Frank Price and the Rev. Barbara Price officiating. The burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sunset Cemetery in Clinton. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Herschel L. Simcox, 89, of Oak Ridge, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005. He was born on July 2, 1915, near Monterey, Tenn., in Putnam County, the youngest son of William Allen and Rebecca Tudor Simcox. He was class president and a graduate of the Livingston Academy, class of 1936. He was drafted and served in Europe as a medic during World War II. Returning home on Feb. 13, 1946, he married Famie Lois Winningham, who bore him three sons, Dale Lynne, Randy Lee and Troy Leon. They came to Oak Ridge in 1953, where he worked for nine years at the K-25 plant. He later retired as store manager at an equipment rental center in Oak Ridge. He enjoyed watching sports, especially NASCAR races, and for several years enjoyed flea marketing. Mr. Simcox was a member of Highland View Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Arthur Simcox, and his sister, Florence Simcox Webb. He is survived by his wife, Famie; his sons; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The family requests that memorials be in the form of donations to the American Cancer Society, 1599 Clifton Road NE, Atlanta, GA 30329, or the Boys Club of Oak Ridge, PO Box 4021, Oak Ridge, TN 37831. The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. The graveside service will be at 12 p.m. (CST) Saturday, Jan. 22, at Wilson's Cemetery near Monterey. Donald Thomas Stoetzel, 33, of Oliver Springs and Oak Ridge, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005, in Oak Ridge. Born on Oct. 12, 1971, in Knoxville, he was the son of Jim and Vickie Stoetzel of Oliver Springs, formerly of Oak Ridge. Mr. Stoetzel lived in Saudi Arabia with his family for five years before returning to Oak Ridge to finish high school. He had lived in Oliver Springs for the past several years and had recently returned to Oak Ridge. He attended the Oliver Springs Church of Christ. He was an avid billiards player and won many local and area pool tournaments. He worked for many years in the lawn care industry with his uncle, and most recently was employed by Red Lobster in Oak Ridge. He was preceded in death by a brother, James David "Little Jimmy" Stoetzel, in 1974; his paternal grandparents, Frank C. and Elaine M. Stoetzel; and an uncle, Donnie Bradford. In addition to his parents, Mr. Stoetzel is survived by his wife, Michelle Stoetzel, and his daughter, Darian Cree Stoetzel, both of Harriman; his sister, Lisa White and her husband, Chad, and their children, Elijah, Kelsi and James, all of Oliver Springs; and his brother, Sgt. Matt Stoetzel and wife, Brandi, and daughter, Taylor, all of Mildenhall Air Force Base in England. He is also survived by his maternal grandparents, Tom and Della Sue Bradford of Oak Ridge; a great-uncle, Wayne Groppe and his wife, Shirley, of Oak Ridge; a maternal aunt, Paulette Knight, and her children, Brian, Adam and Ashlyn Knight; and other extended family members. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with Richard Powlus and the Rev. Sam Loy officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Ned Adams Thurmer, 87, a resident of Oliver Springs, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005, at his home. He was born on May 31, 1917, in the Wheat community of Roane County. Mr. Thurmer was a U.S. Navy veteran and also a U.S. Army veteran, who served his country proudly during World War II. He was wounded in France on June 24, 1944, receiving a Purple Heart for injuries sustained and a Bronze Star for heroic actions in the line of fire. In addition to a Purple Heart and Bronze Star, he received various other citations and decorations. He was in the first wave of the invasion of Normandy as an infantryman serving his battalion as an bayonet and rifle expert. Following his discharge from the military, he worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps, building trails, roads, doing stonework and other work in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. He worked for 11 years as a guard for Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary. He had also worked for Wackenhut Services Inc. in Oak Ridge as a security officer. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Tri-County Chapter No. 26. He was also member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, farming and gardening in his spare time. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Edna Belle Moore Thurmer; and by 13 brothers and sisters. Mr. Thurmer is survived by his daughters, Linda Shepherd and husband, David, and Edna Shepherd and husband, the Rev. Douglas E. Shepherd, all of Inverness, Fla.; sons, Dale Thurmer and wife, Suitlana, of Oak Ridge, and Mike Thurmer of Mt. Blanchard, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; his fiancée, Imogene Robinson of Sweetwater; a sister-in-law, Maggie Lee Thurmer of Oliver Springs; and a cousin, Mary Edna Johnson of Chattanooga. He is also survived by a host of nieces and n ephews, including local nephews Steve and Sidney Thurmer. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 23, 2005, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Garvan Walls officiating. Burial and a graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m., Monday, Jan. 24, at the East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Knoxville. Military honors will conducted by the Volunteer State War Era Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Tina D. Drummond, 39, of Oak Ridge and formerly of Clinton, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
