Motion for Postponement Overruled. CHATTANOOOA, Tenn., Oct 4, In the circuit court yesterday C. B. Monroe, tho leader of the miners in the recent Coal Creek war, was placed on trial. In his affidavit for continuance he alleges that he could not get a fair trial on account of the presence of militia in the town and around the court house. It was shown that there were but three soldiers present, regularly sum- moned as witnesses, who had deposited theirr arms with the sheriff. It was also proven that Monroe's absent witnesses were fugitives from justice. The motion for postponement, was overruled and a jury summoned.
