"Charlie" Hamby Sr., 97, of Oak Ridge, Angie Morgan Perry, 103, of Clinton, Marshall Jones, 85, a resident of the Dutch Valley community Douglas E. Fain, 73, of Knoxville, Laura Louise Hughes Gray, 81, of Oak Ridge, died on Monday, Jan. 24, 2005, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. She was born on March 3, 1923, in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Mrs. Gray was a dearly beloved mother and sister. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Oak Ridge. In addition to her parents, Martha Effie and John Hughes, Mrs. Gray was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Gray; her grandson, Michael Jameson; her brother-in-law, Thomas Blakenship; and her nephew, Wayne Blakenship. She is survived by her sons, Glenn Gray and wife, Allison, of Oak Ridge, and Eddie Gray and wife, Darlene, of Clinton; her daughter, Martha Jameson and husband, Robert, of Clinton; her grandchildren, Robert Jameson Jr. and wife, Kris, of Bossier City, La., and Steven Gray and Amy Gray, both of Clinton; and her great-grandchildren, Robbie, Rachel and Ryan of Bossier City, La. Mrs. Gray is also survived by her brothers, Bill Hughes and wife, Olene, of Decatur, Ala., R.D. Hughes and wife, Mary, of Oak Ridge, Charles Hughes and wife, Ellen, of Heiskell, Hugo K. Hughes and wife, Pat, and Jimmy Hughes and wife, Alice, all of Clinton; her sisters, Johnnie Ruth Blankenship of Decatur, Ala., and Ann Jenkins and husband, Charles W., of Clinton; her brother-in-law, Charlie Gray and wife, Imogene, of Trinity, Ala.; her sisters-in-law, Virgie Doss and Clara Sandy, both of Decatur, Ala.; 12 nieces and 12 nephews and their respective spouses; 33 great-nieces and great-nephews; 12 great-great-nieces and nephews; special friends, Lousie Dodson, Mary Bell Brantley, Maggie Alley, Mae Corley, the Brown family, and all friends and workers at the Oak Ridge Dialysis Center. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Lawrence Ford officiating. The burial will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 28, at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in Claxton. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home in Clinton. Charles G. "Charlie" Hamby Sr., 97, of Oak Ridge, died on Dec. 22, 2004. He was born in Atlanta, Ga., and lived in its metropolitan area for 90 years before moving to Oak Ridge seven years ago. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and, at one time, a member of the Oak Ridge Sportsman Association. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oak Ridge. Mr. Hamby was preceded in death by his wife, Angela K. Hamby. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Tom Kollie of Oak Ridge; and three of his grandchildren, Angela Kollie Krause of Atlanta, U.S. Navy Comdr.. Thomas G. Kollie Jr. of Brunswick, Maine; and Theresa Kollie of Knoxville. He is also survived by his son, Charles G. "Chip" Hamby Jr., of Marietta, Ga.; another daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and Joe Kingston of Decatur, Ga.; and by six other grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. The family acknowledges with grateful appreciation the care given to Mr. Hamby by the staff of Continuum Courtyards, where he lived. A memorial Mass for Mr. Hamby will be held in the chapel at St. Mary's Catholic Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, celebrated by Father Michael Woods. Angie Morgan Perry, 103, of Clinton, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005, at Briarcliff Health Care Center in Oak Ridge. Born on Aug. 23, 1901, in Cooper, Texas, she was the daughter of John Thomas and Edna Lambeth Morgan After receiving a bachelor's degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, and a master's degree from Columbia University in New York City, she taught in Louisiana and in Texas. While teaching in Galveston, Texas, for 14 years she met her husband, William Preston Perry. During the World War II years, they moved to Tennessee, where Mrs. Perry taught for 23 years in the Oak Ridge school system, from 1944 to 1967. In 1951, they built their home in Clinton and enjoyed it for 10 years together until her husband's death in 1961. Through the years she maintained active memberships in Delta Gamma, Memorial United Methodist Church in Clinton, and several social clubs. Her hobbies included reading, entertaining friends, gardening, and playing bridge. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded her in death by her brother, Bernie Morgan. Mrs. Perry is survived by her nephew, John W. Morgan and his wife, Ellen Corenswet; her grandniece, Brianna Morgan; and step-grandnephew, Jake Kirsch, all of New York, N.Y.; and by her sister-in-law, Ernestine Morgan of Houston, Texas. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at Memorial United Methodist Church in Clinton with the Rev. Don Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the church. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of arrangements. Marshall Jones, 85, a resident of the Dutch Valley community in Anderson County, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs is in charge of the arrangements, which were incomplete at press time. Douglas E. Fain, 73, of Knoxville, died on Jan. 25, 2005, at his home.
