She was a retired from the Harriman City School System. Mrs. Fowler was a member of Trenton Street Baptist Church in Harriman. She was preceded in death by her husband Arvil Fowler. She is survived by daughter & son in law, Ann & Sam Scandlyn of Acworth, Ga.; son, James A. Fowler of Nashville; grandchildren, Sarah & James F. Scandlyn of Acworth, Ga.; brother, Harlan Prater of Fayette, Al; many nieces & nephews. Funeral 2:00 P.M. Monday at Kyker Funeral Home Chapel in Harriman where the body will lie in state for two hours before services. Rev Waylon Payne officiating. Private interment. Mr. Savage was born April 20, 1950 and raised in Oak Ridge. He graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1968. He was on the Oak Ridge High School track team and played bass guitar in a rock band. Music was very important to him and he remained active in the music community throughout his life. He played bass guitar in several bands over the years, including Clockwork, Skyline, Cameo Ritz, Casual Sax and Philip Knight and the Days. Mr. Savage was a long-time supporter of the Jubilee Community Arts and was involved in the revitalization efforts of Downtown Knoxville. He was a friend of the Unitarian Universalist Church and a life-time member of the Mountain Retreat and Learning Center, a Unitarian camp in Highlands, NC, where he enjoyed spending weekends with his family. He was employed by Knox County in the Information Technology Department. He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Clifton Savage III, February 2, 2003. He is survived by: His mother, Lillian Willoughby Savage of Oak Ridge; Daughters, Cassie and Paula Savage and their mother, Carolyn Greenwood, all of Knoxville; Sisters, Nancy Savage Ho and husband Ivan C. S. Ho and their children, Nathan, Julaine and Brenton Ho, all of Renton, Washington and Ellen Savage Morar and husband, Grant C. Morar and their children, Sarah, Hannah and George Morar, all of Knoxville. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, January 31, 2005 at 4:30 pm at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 212 N. Tulane Avenue, Oak Ridge, TN. with Rev. Dr. Craig M. Kallio and Rev. Claire Keene officiating. Interment will be in the memorial gardens of the church. He was the son of the late Sherman and Laura Sexton Overton. He was a member of the Lone Mountain Missionary Baptist Church, a United States Army Veteran of WWII, and was a member of the American Legion Post ##136 of Oneida. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: two brothers, Lloyd and Arlie Overton; one infant brother; grandson, Derrick Spradlin; mother and father-in- law, Mitchell and Carrie Griffith; son-in-law, Paul Spradlin; and brothers-in-law, Lonzie Griffith and Alton Payne.
