III (BOB) - age 47 BAGGETT, DEE - age 55 of Lake City, passed away Sunday, January 23, 2005 at Oak Ridge Methodist Medical Center. She is survived by: sons and daughter-in-law, Billy Ray Baggett, Kenny and Crystal Baggett, and Denny Baggett; grandchildren, Billy Dwayne, Chris Lee, Marissa, Wyatt, Garrett Wade Baggett; sister, B.J. Mrs. Brogan loved crafts, flowers, cooking and taking care of her family. Preceded in death by husband, Palmer Lee Brogan; parents, Pete and Meadie Ellison Crusoe; brother, Roy Cosby. RUTH BISHOP - age 93, a longtime resident of the Swan Pond Community, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2005 at the Windwood Health and Rehabilitation Center in Clinton. she was a resident of Harriman Care and Rehabilitation Center for many years and was a member of the Swan Pond United Methodist Church for 50 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Frank "Whitey" Copeland, Sr.; one son, Frank "Buddy" Copeland, Jr.; her parents, Samuel Oscar and Martha Farmer Bishop; one sister, Edith; four maternal aunts, Ona Murray, Daisy Overton, Ollie Hicks and Florence Peoples; three step brothers, Eugene, Chester and Ora Wyrick; one step sister, Alma Steadman. She is survived by one daughter and son in law, Sandra and Bill T. Arrangements by Davis Funeral Home, Harriman FAIN, DOUGLAS EDWARD, SR. - age 73 of Harriman, TN passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2005 following a strongly fought battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clara Elizabeth Fain Hughes and Albert Fain. both of Wetumpka, AL. He is survived by his wife, Patricia McNicholas Fain, son and daughter-in- law Douglas Jr. and Marsha Fain and son David M. Fain and their mother Billie Fain of Knoxville; grandchildren Kristie Fain Rowan, husband Tim and great grandchildren Macon and Emma Rowan, of Lenoir City; Alicia Jane Fain; Douglas Edward Fain, III; Cara Ford and husband Todd, great grandchildren Riley and Brady Ford; Amy Renfro and husband Chris; all of Knoxville; step-children Pamela Smith of Atlanta and Adam Smith, wife Emily and their children Jordan and Kyle Smith of Loganville, GA; sister Joan Fain, uncle Joe Billy Fain, wife Mae and numerous cousins, all of Wetumpka, AL; mother- in-law Betty Hartman of Tampa, FL. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1952. He graduated as class valedictorian from Wetumpka High School in 1949; from Auburn University, summa cum laud, BS 1956 and MS 1957 and had extensive PH.D. graduate work in Physics at the University of Tennessee. He came to Oak Ridge in 1957 and worked at K-25 throughout his career, retiring in 2002 as Director of Membrane Technology . Mr. Fain devoted his professional life to the field of inorganic membrane science and technology. In 1997 his colleagues world-wide had occasion to honor his contributions to the field and he was lauded as being "internationally recognized by the membrane community as Mr. Inorganic Membrane;" as "the epitome of excellence in his field and as having performed valuable services to the nation;" as "one of the pioneers in the field of inorganic membranes;" and as heading a program that "has no peers in the outside world." He authored numerous papers, both classified and unclassified and held numerous patents. He was equally devoted to his volunteer work on behalf of people with mental retardation. He served in leadership roles at the local, state and national levels from 1968 until his death. He was a member and leader of the Association for Retarded Citizens (later the Arc) for 37 years, the chairman of the Board of Trustees of Greene Valley Developmental Center for 16 years and the recipient of numerous awards and commendations for this work. He held many other positions and made outstanding contributions to the quality of life of all people with disabilities. Funeral services are Thursday, January 27, 2005 at 7:30 pm at Weatherford Mortuary with Rev. Ron Russell officiating. Graveside services are Friday at 11:00 am at Oak Ridge Memorial Park with Rev. Dr. Stephen Damos officiating. ALYCE S. - age 75 of Harriman, passed away early Monday morning, January 24, 2005 at the Baptist Hospital West in Knoxville. She is survived by: her four children, Alyce G. She was the daughter of the late Forrest and Pearl (Langley) Nelson. Paula Mae was a life-long member of Clear Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Clifford Everett Haynes; daughter, Patricia A. Harris; sons, Alan E. Haynes and wife, Peggy, Nelson E. Haynes and wife Cathy; grandchildren, Brent Harris, Michael, Nathan and Heather Haynes; great- grandchildren, (twins) Sophia and Vincent Haynes, all of Michigan; sister, Ruby Windon of Clarksville, TN; a host of nieces and nephews. OSBORNE, ROBERT C. "HOOT" - age 84, of Clinton passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2005 at Methodist Medical Center. He was born April 28, 1920 in Jonesville, Virginia. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served in World War II flying Bombardier B-29. After serving in the war he retired from ORNL after 30 years of service. Through the years Robert and his wife were members of Hinds Creek Baptist Church. Robert is preceded in death by parents Alex and Cora Miles Osborne; brothers and sisters. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of all arrangements. PERRY, ANGIE MORGAN - age 103, of Clinton, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2005 at Briarcliff Health Care Center. She was born August 23, 1901 in Cooper, Texas. After receiving a B.A. degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas and a M.A. degree from Columbia University in New York City, she taught in Louisiana and in Texas. While teaching in Galveston, Texas for 14 years she met her husband, William Preston Perry. During the World War II years they moved to Tennessee where Angie taught in the Oak Ridge School System from 1944-1967 (23 years). In 1951 they built their home in Clinton and enjoyed it for 10 years together until her husband's death in 1961. Through the years she maintained active memberships in Delta Gamma, Memorial United Methodist Church and in several social clubs. Her hobbies included reading, entertaining friends, gardening, and playing bridge. Those preceded her in death were her husband, William Preston Perry; parents, John Thomas & Edna Lambeth Morgan and brother, Bernie Morgan. Survivors: nephew, John W. Morgan & wife Ellen Corenswet; great niece, Brianna Morgan; step great nephews, Jake Kirsch all of New York, New York; sister-in-law, Ernestine Morgan of Houston, Texas. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of all arrangements. SAVAGE, HARRY CLIFTON, IV - 54, of Knoxville, died suddenly, Saturday, January 22, 2005. Mr. Savage was born April 20, 1950 and raised in Oak Ridge. He graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1968. He was on the Oak Ridge High School track team and played bass guitar in a rock band. Music was very important to him and he remained active in the music community throughout his life. He played bass guitar in several bands over the years, including Clockwork, Skyline, Cameo Ritz, Casual Sax and Philip Knight and the Days. Mr. Savage was a long-time supporter of the Jubilee Community Arts and was involved in the revitalization efforts of Downtown Knoxville. He was a friend of the Unitarian Universalist Church and a life-time member of the Mountain Retreat and Learning Center, a Unitarian camp in Highlands, NC, where he enjoyed spending weekends with his family. He was employed by Knox County in the Information Technology Department. He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Clifton Savage III, February 2, 2003. He is survived by: His mother, Lillian Willoughby Savage of Oak Ridge; Daughters, Cassie and Paula Savage and their mother, Carolyn Greenwood, all of Knoxville; Sisters, Nancy Savage Ho and husband Ivan C. S. Ho and their children, Nathan, Julaine and Brenton Ho, all of Renton, Washington and Ellen Savage Morar and husband, Grant C. Morar and their children, Sarah, Hannah and George Morar, all of Knoxville. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, January 31, 2005 at 4:30 pm at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 212 N. III (BOB) - age 47 passed away in his home January 26, 2005 in Knoxville, TN and entered into his dream of being with his heavenly Father and family that has passed before. He was a faithful member & Deacon of Asbury Church of Christ, a devoted teacher of the "teenage class." He has owned his own business for 20 years in the Sevier County area. He worked for the Oak Ridge School System and has many close friends there. He was employed with the city of Pigeon Forge. He was a loving husband, wonderful father, and a devoted Pop.
