EMMA J. - age 96 of Harriman, passed away Sunday March 6, 2005 at the Harriman Care and Rehabilitation Center. She would have celebrated her 97th birthday on March 10th. Mrs. Crass was a 50 year member of Laurel Chapter #22 Order of the Eastern Star in Harriman. She enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts and quilting. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Luther Crass; and one son, Tom Crass. She is survived by two sons and daughters in law, Michell and Margaret Crass, Fred and Teresa Crass; three daughters and two sons in law, Pauline Crass, Nina and Howard Agee, Norma and Frank Patterson; one daughter in law, Edna Crass; 20 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren; and special friends, Louella Brickey and Marie Laxton. LAWHORN, LOREN M. - 82 of Oak Ridge, died Monday, March 7, 2005 at his home. He was the son of McKager and Isabel Lawhorn. He was born June 30, 1922 and grew up in Rugby, Tennessee. He loved to tell stories, especially about residents living in Rugby that he knew and loved as he grew up in Rugby. He was a graduate of Sunbright High School in Sunbright, TN; he received a BA degree from Tennessee Polytechnical Institute in Cookeville, Tenn.; and earned a Masters Degree from George Peabody College in Nashville, TN. He taught in the one-room school in Rugby for one year and was principal at the Sunbright High School from 1949 until 1953. He was a member of New Faith Masonic Lodge #76 in Sunbright, TN, for over fifty years. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. He worked in Oak Ridge during the 1940's and again in 1953 until his retirement from Martin Marietta in 1985. He was an active member and deacon of Central Baptist Church in Oak Ridge. He had been very involved with the senior groups of the Church, the JJ Choir and Go-Getters. He served many years as a Sunday school teacher working with many different age groups. He is preceded in death by: his parents, McKager and Isabel Lawhorn; two brothers, Theodore and Hiram Lawhorn; and a sister, Dora Lawhorn Gregory. He is survived by: his wife of 54 years, Azilee Pate Lawhorn; and his four children: Edward Barry Lawhorn and wife, Karen, of Richmond, VA; Donald Wayne Lawhorn and wife, Carolyn, of Knoxville; Susan Lawhorn Willoughby and husband, Mickey, of Knoxville; and John Michael Lawhorn and wife, Eva of Knoxville. He was very proud of his 12 grandchildren: Andrew Clay Lawhorn, Trent Edward Lawhorn, Joseph Chapman Lawhorn, Amanda Pate Lawhorn, Thomas McKager Lawhorn, Pamela Elaine Willoughby, Amy Willoughby Bowman, Mark Everett Willoughby, Dale Logan Lawhorn, Wade Michael Lawhorn, Kane Alec Lawhorn and Blake David Lawhorn. He also leaves a brother Harry Hammond and wife Colleen of Haywood, CA and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 10, 2005 at 8:00pm at Central Baptist Church with Dr. Bobby Mullins and Rev. Bob Gray officiating. Graveside services are Friday at 11:00am at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. SOSNOWSKI, MURIEL H. - age 78, of Oak Ridge passed away Tuesday March 8, 2005 at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. Mrs. Sosnowski was born in Roane Mountain, Tennessee to the late Joseph and Verda Roberts Hinkle on June 15, 1926 and moved to Oak Ridge in the early 1950s. She had been employed with T.V.A., X-10, K-25, and last with Paine Webber. Mrs. Sosnowski was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and received her C.P.S. certificate from Roane State Community College. Preceded in death by two sisters Ann Shell and Christine Jarrett and two brothers Robert Hinkle and Ray Hinkle. Survivors include her husband of 40 years Stanley Sosnowski of Oak Ridge; son Stanley Sosnowski III of Knoxville; daughter Suzanne Hnilica of Hendersonville; grandson Andrew Hnilica of Hendersonville; and two sisters Edith Phipps of Watauga, and Grace Gibson of Oak Ridge. She was born June 21, 1905 in Campbell County, TN., in the Agee Community, now covered by waters of the Norris Dam. She was a member of Lake City United Methodist Church. She was a member of W.M.U. and the Medford F.C.E. She was a craft person, doing rug hooking, bottoming chairs with corn shucks, and making hats out of corn shucks. She made old fashioned bonnets, and did crocheting and quilting. She loved gardening, and enjoyed canning and freezing the produce she raised. She sold craft items to a craft shop at the Museum of Appalachia, the Community Craft Center on Hwy 61, and to craft stores in New York and Asheville, North Carolina. She is preceded in death by: her husband of 53 years, O.G. (Gip) Ridenour; daughter, Opal Houchin of Raleigh, NC; 2 sons, George, two and one half years old, & William RIdenour; parents, William R. & Lucy May Irwin Wood; 4 sisters, Margaret Davis, Mabel Bolinger, Dorothy Vowell, and Ammone Miller; two brothers, J.
