From The Oak ridger 1 Mar 2005 Harry Phillip Adkison, 74, of Ocala, Fla., formerly of Oak Ridge, Harold Presley Newman, 59, of Rockwood, Harry Phillip Adkison, 74, of Ocala, Fla., formerly of Oak Ridge, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2005, at the hospital of a stroke. He graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1948, and from Texas Western College in 1954 with an electrical engineering degree, where he belonged to the Reserve Officers' Training Corps. He retired from Martin Marietta in Orlando, Fla., in 1992. He enjoyed traveling, hunting, and fishing with family and friends until his illness in 1996. Mr. Adkison was preceded in death by his father and mother, Thomas P. Adkison and Ella Mae Ahlers Adkison of Jefferson City, Mo., and Oak Ridge. He is survived by his wife, Jon Ann Rierson Adkison; a son and five daughters; 11 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren; his sister, Geraldine Gilliam and husband, Martin, of Oak Ridge; a brother-in-law, Rob Rierson and wife, Katie, of Orlando, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. A private memorial service will be held in Orlando, Fla. Harold Presley Newman, 59, of Rockwood, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2005, at his home. He was a member of the South Harriman Baptist Church, a deacon of the Big Emory Association, and was a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Navy. Mr. Newman was employed for 25 years as a stationary engineer with BWXT Y-12 in Oak Ridge. He was preceded in death by his son, Scott Newman. Mr. Newman is survived by his wife, Inez Newman of Rockwood; four daughters, Leslie Hope Newman and husband, Darrell, Dara Hope Newman, Gena Inez Newman, and Presley Anna Newman, all of Rockwood; four sons, Travis Harold Newman and wife, Marie, of Harriman, Dusty Trae Beasley of Rockwood, Robert Phillips and wife, Tarri, of Maryville, and Trinity Scott Newman of Rockwood; and five grandchildren, Jordyn, Morgan and Evan Newman, Topaz Schubert, and Stephanie Chambers. He is also survived by his brother, James Newman of Atlanta, Ga.; his special sister-in-law, Doris Duncan of Oliver Springs; his special aunt and uncle, J.P. and Barbara True of Rockwood; his special friends, Bro. Randy Maxwell and Boyd Jackson, and many other friends. A memorial service will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2005, in the chapel of Evans Mortuary in Rockwood with Bro. Randy Maxwell officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.
