    3. Dear Ladies & Gentlemen, I resemble that(those) remark(s)! :) I lived in Lake City till I was 12 y.o. But I learned to drive in Michigan! Sorry! I live in St. Clair Shores, right @ the I 94 & 696 interchange. You think the east side is bad?Try the west side of town! They drive like nuts! And..... truck drivers in Ky are worse than any 'northren" driver I've ever seen! I was in Lake City & Harriman in nov.2004. I'll never ever make that trip through Ky at nite again! I almost got run off the mountian 3 times between Lexington & Corbin! I'm dreading the trip down this june! Anyone know a way around Ky? I was back & forth between L.C. & Harriman for 3 days. First time by way of 25W. After that Dutch Valley! Now thats the way to go! Cut 45 minutes off each way! I meant to say that when Daddy got hit twice on I-75 in one day, that it was the time we had that huge ice and snow storm, I think back in about 1970. He wasn't up there just trying get people to not use the interstate like it sounded!!! LOL He and the other patrolmen were trying to bring everyone off in one lane, and a couple of "northern" drivers, from two states I won't mention, decided they knew how to drive better in the ice than the officers, and pulled out and passed the whole line, going down Pine Mtn. They were out of control heading down the mountain, went to changing ends, and hit Daddy, who was standing beside his patrol car. Fortunately, Daddy managed to dive into the Patrol car when he saw the idiot coming. It knocked his boots off and broke his foot, and then he got hit again later on that same day, in the same way. Two patrol cars trashed in one day!!! Not to mention poor Daddy. And yes those NORTHERN DRIVERS can be a pain at times. I always say there is a big difference when all you have to worry about is sliding off the road into a flat yard but its a whole different ballgame when you don't stop until you have dropped about 700 feet straight down from the shoulder of the roadway. Its not the drop off that gets you but the sudden stop at the bottem, John __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Hey Carolyn, Speed limit is 70 so that means they run about 90 thats about average speed anymore. Heck its 40 MPH through town here and at times if you just run 55 you have people all over your rear end. And now with I-75 South Bound closed the ride through town can now take about 45 minutes especially if schools are letting out. Also if any of y'all are coming home over the Easter Weekend or this weekend when you get off in Jelico don't come down 25W. Make a right turn and go over to Route 297 this is the old road that takes you down the old mining road thru royal blue and the flat woods you will come out down by Shoney's in Caryville. You will see some pretty country side and save a lot of time. I have heard of it taking folks up to 3 hours to get from Jelico to LaFollette on 25W. The scenery down 25W is also nice but with gas at 2 dollars a gallon you just might want to go the other way. John __________________________________ Celebrate Yahoo!'s 10th Birthday! Yahoo! 3. It's been my experience that the truck drivers on I-75 have improved quite a bit since the 1970's, but everyone has their own perspective. The SEC tournament is this weekend, and KY is in it. I wouldn't go south past Corbin on I-75 right now for love or money. Ha-ha! Well, maybe for money... If you're traveling south, the best alternative to avoid it altogether, might be to get off of I-75 at the second Corbin exit and take 25W. Stay on 25W until you are allowed to get back on I-75 in Knoxville. You'll get in a lot of traffic in the Jellico area, though. There was a wreck on the detour road yesterday or the day before, which made the wait for getting off of I-75 and onto the detour even longer. According to the Knoxville and Lexington news stations, it's really a mess. There will be even more traffic due to so many Kentuckians going to Atlanta for the SEC tournament.
