From the Oak Ridger 7 Mar 2005 Nancy Carolyn Collins, 58, a resident of the Marlow community in Anderson County, Eva Lee Holbert, 94, of Oak Ridge, James Edward Southern, 49, of Oak Ridge, Anna Marie Ward, 61, of Clinton, Harrison H. Williams Jr., 81, of Oak Ridge, Hoyt Mullins, 75, of Oak Ridge, Harry Lee "Bruz" Bennett, 82, of Keller, Texas, and formerly of Oak Ridge, Rebecca Edwards, 72, of Oak Ridge, Nancy Carolyn Collins, 58, a resident of the Marlow community in Anderson County, died Thursday, March 3, 2005, at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. She was born on Oct. 11, 1946, in Oak Ridge to Audley McSwain and Nettie Suttles McSwain. She lived for five years in Loveland, Ohio, and two years in Atlanta, Ga., before moving back to Tennessee. Mrs. Collins was a nurse, working 10 years at Briarcliff Healthcare Center and the Key Springs Home. She was a member of Heritage Fellowship Church of Oak Ridge. She was preceded in death by her parents. Mrs. Collins is survived by her husband, Gary Collins of Marlow; her children, Robert Lee Braden of Lafayette, Ind., Leondria Denise Turnbill of Flint, Mich., and Patience Nicole Collins of Clinton; her sister, Judy Lynn Houchin of Noblesville, Ind.; five grandchildren; and one niece. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2005, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Paul Metler officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Eva Lee Holbert, 94, of Oak Ridge, died Saturday, March 5, 2005, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. The daughter of William Conway and Lucy Strange Carson, she was born April 24, 1910, in Jefferson County. Mrs. Holbert worked as a salesperson for Nettie Lee Dress Shop and was a member of Robertsville Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Holbert, on May 6, 1969; and three sisters and a brother, Ethel P. Carson, Nell M. Carson, Bonnie Acuff and William Shannon Carson. Mrs. Holbert is survived by her daughters, Jean Holbert of Knoxville, Blanche Holbert Miller and husband, Al, of Oliver Springs, and Faye Holbert Ringer and husband, Jim, of Fox Lake, Ill.; her grandchildren, Kim Brown and husband, Mark, of Mooresville, N.C., Melanie Kent and husband, David, of Clinton, Cindy Ringer and Dani Butsch, both of New York, N.Y., and Jimmy Ringer and wife, Christy, of Lakemoor, Ill.; and her great-grandchildren, Emily Brown and Molly Brown, both of Mooresville, Tyler Kent and Kelli Kent, both of Clinton, and Caden Ringer of Lakemoor. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2005, in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Robbie Leach and the Rev. Nathan Malone officiating. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 8, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. James Edward Southern, 49, of Oak Ridge, died Thursday, March 3, 2005, at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Born Dec. 18, 1955, in Oak Ridge, he was the son of Hollis Ray Southern and Nannie Lee Brock Southern of Oak Ridge. He was a 1973 graduate of Oak Ridge High School, and while in high school enjoyed working with handicapped children. Mr. Southern worked for 25 years with Pathway-Bellows, where he was a boiler maker. He was also a member of the American Federation of Labor-Congress of Industrial Organizations. His passion was his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and he rode each year in the Toys for Tots ride. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Jill Cross Southern; his daughter, Jessica Southern, of Oak Ridge; his stepdaughter, Josie Roberts of Oliver Springs; his brother, Robert Southern of Oak Ridge; and his niece, Ashley Ehlert and husband, Brett, of Knoxville. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2005, in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Martin Fischer officiating. The family requests that any memorials be in the form of contributions to the Anderson County Toy Run, 201 N. Slope Lane, Clinton, TN 37716. Anna Marie Ward, 61, of Clinton, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 6, 2005, at her home, surrounded by her husband and children. She was born in Knoxville on Jan. 27, 1944, the daughter of William and Lillie Mae Smith. She worked as a mother and housewife, and later as a teacher assistant at South Clinton Elementary School, and then retired to care for her grandchildren as the best Mamaw in the world. She served diligently in Glory Way Baptist Church as pastor's wife, pianist and Sunday School teacher. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant children, Tammy Denise Ward and James Arthur Ward, and her young sister, Ruth Smith. Mrs. Ward is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Jess Ward; her sons, Darrel Ward and wife, Peggy, and their children Joshua and Jacob, Stephen Ward and wife, April, and Michael Ward and David Ward; her daughter, Karen Beatty and husband, Chris, and their children Alexander and Elijah; her brothers, William Carl Smith and wife, Chlo Anne, Paul Smith and wife, Martha, and Edward Smith; her sister, Ella "Rewena" Crawley and husband, Lawrence; her sister-in-law, Faye Smith; and by numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2005, at the Glory Way Baptist Church in Clinton. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 8 at Woodhaven Cemetary in Claxton. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of arrangements. Harrison H. Williams Jr., 81, of Oak Ridge, died Friday, March 4, 2005, at his home. Born Oct. 1, 1923, in Wooldridge, Tenn., he was the son of Rosa Lee Ault Williams and Harrison H. Williams Sr. Mr. Williams came to Oak Ridge in 1953 and was employed at the Y-12 Plant as a chemical operator. He retired from his position in 1979. He joined the U.S. Army on Oct. 31, 1940, and participated in the World War II invasion of Europe as a member of the 23rd Armored Engineer Battalion. He was awarded the Purple Heart and five Bronze Stars, the American Campaign medal, and the Overlord medal, presented by the government of France. He was also appointed Colonel, Aide-de-Camp of the governor's staff by then-governor Don Sundquist. Mr. Williams was a man of many interests, including working with automobiles, fishing, yard work and gardening. He was especially informed on world affairs and read widely in this area. His main joy in life was his grandchildren, whom he taught and with whom he spent a great deal of time. Mr. Williams was a member of Royce Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister, and his daughter, Gail. Mr. Williams is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary; his son, Michael Lee and wife, Mary Ann, of Nashville; his grandson, David Allan, and his granddaughter, Kristy Lee; and his sisters, Elizabeth Begluitti, Ruby Thompson and Maudie Belle Queener. He is also survived by a wide extended family to whom he was devoted. He was always on hand to help family, friends and neighbors. A memorial service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2005, in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Rick Miller, pastor of Royce Baptist, officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The family requests that any memorials be in the form of contributions to the American Diabetes Association, P.O.
