FARM WOMEN HAVE BIG DAY IN ANDERSON COUNTY A very successful Woman's Day was held at Clinton recently under the direction of Miss Leah Parker, home demonstration agent for Anderson county. In fact, it was such a success that several farmers have asked Agent Elrod if he could not arrange to have a "Man's Day" some time in the near future. Between 125 and 150 women from over the county came to hear the program given in the high school auditorium at 9:30 in the morning. After comnmunity singing, devotional exercises, welcome address and response by local people, there were talks on "The Care of Children"; "Good and bad points of ready-made dresses and a few short cuts in sewing," "Making the living room more comfortable and more livable". One feature of the day, was an exhibit where two miniature houses were displayed showing the home and surroundings of "Mrs. Do Right'' and "Mrs. Do Wrong."; "Mrs. Do Right's" house was screened, immaculate and shrubbered. "Mrs. Do Wrong's" house was unscreened and untidy, with the billy goat parked in the front yard. This exhibit was very attractive and added much to the success of the day. " The picnic lunch was served at the school house by the Women's Improvement Association. In the after- noon the women made a tour of the Clinton stores. Practically every stove and bank in Clinton co-operated in some way to make the affair a success and incidentally convinced the women that they could easily buy all their supplies and home equipment as well as their clothes in their town without going to a nearby city or ordering by mail. Clinton merchants are thoroughly convinced of the value of Woman's Day as an advertising agency. Kingsport Times; Kingsport, Tenn.; July 20, 1923 I suppose I'm a Mrs. Do Wrong; no shrubbery...then again, don't have a goat either... Wonder who participated? My relatives had barely enough room to sleep in let alone have a living room.
