Dusty, I also have tried to get Mary Phillips death cert. I played with the idea that maybe Goldy did married Mary Smith and have Mitchell Phillips b. Sept 12, 1903 then died Then Goldy married Mary J. Feathers March 14, 1904 in Anderson Co. But this is just a guess on my part. Dusty, I'm sorry I can't confirm her death date. I was showing that because New Pilot Bapt Church Cem depicts Mary Phillips b (Unk) d July 1924? This could be any Mary Phillips or this could be Golda's wife??? There is another Mary E Phillips listed with Unk birth & Unk death??? What I have is: Anderson Co, TN Marriage Records Melton Patterson m Mary E Aslinger Jan 21, 1896. 1900 Anderson Co, TN Census Records Milton Patterson 25 May 1875 m/4/yrs TN Mary 16 July 1883 wife m/4/yrs 1/chi/1/liv *** born July 1883 Sallie 1 Sept 1898 dau HANNAH ASLINGER 43 Aug 1856 wid 6/chi/2/liv Calvin Aslinger 4 May 1896 bro/law I have hard copy of Anderson Co, TN Cemetery Records, Patterson Cem 1 depicts; Milton Patterson b (not listed) died July 22, 1916. I checked all names in the marriage records I have for Golda Phillips to a Mary Aslinger; checked for Golda Phillips married to Mary Patterson; didn't locate either. Even though Diane, Elsie, & Tommy Patterson were living in household of Golda I'm uncertain if the above records are Golda's wife Mary or they depict Mary Aslinger? I guess only family members will be able to solve this problem. I don't have Mary Aslinger listed as Golda Phillips wife in my records. You stated: Mary J. Smith is the sister to my granddaddy Charles David Smith. Was Mary J Smith married to a Feathers prior to her marriage to Golda? Was Viola Smith 18 sis/law unmarried in the 1910 census records & born a Smith? Thanks, don't mean to confuse just wanted to try & get it correct. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton.
Gloria, Mary J. Smith married Goldy in March 1906. Here below is a blurb I have in my notes, but this is not my research. Someone voluntarily gave it to me from their reocrds. """Little Viola married Calvin Aslinger. Charley (C.P.) married Oma Patterson. Lonzie married Marie, the daughter of Mattie who is the daughter of Milton P. and Mary Aslinger Patterson. Earnest married Elsie Phillips daughter of Jake and Sabra Phillips. Lillie married Parker Lowe.""""" Mary J. Smith is the sister to my granddaddy Charles David SMith. Can you tell me how you know for certain she died in July 1924 (and do you know what county she died in?). I have written to Tn. State Library Archives(and spent a fortune) for death cert on her but they say no one named Mary J. Phillips died in July. Could be, I suppose that she and Goldy were never married... I never thought of that before. Maybe her death cert is in her maiden name. Well, anyway.... I'd love it if you could confirm her death date somehow and death county. No, I didn't know. Mary and her family sort of got separated from the bulk of the family who were living in and around Knoxville, Kingsport and Halls Crossroads. Her brothers were of the opinion that Mary had a pretty hard life because Goldy was a bit of a dreamer.... and not especially interested in working real hard. I'd like to hear about the banjo. He had a brother in law by marriage, Lee Fillippinie, who was also known for his banjo playing.
