    2. Phyllis, Actually the 1850 Census does not state that she is "Mother in Law". By being at the end of Jame's Family we think of her as being a Mother in Law. The Census stated that she was 51 and Female, born in Virginia. She could also be Jame's Aunt or Matilda's Aunt too. I can't seem to find James in 1860 Census to see if Mary Cox is still there. Good luck on your Search!! Carolyn Whaley

    3. If someone is getting two rootsweb mails there could be more than one reason. Check at www.rootsweb.com Password central. Ask for them to email you a list of all lists you are subbed to under ANY addresses you might have subscribed to. check the list, once recieved, to see if you are subbed to the list under two addy's. It could also be a server problem and you'll need to check with their tech support personnel. 3. Soon after the firts settlement of the year 1770 had been made on the Tygarts Valley, Buckhannon and West Fork Rivers by their tributaries, and before many inroads and invasions had been made by the merciless savages on these pioneers for the purpose of killing and scalping men, women, and children, or carrying them into captivity, arrangements were made by which spies and scouts were sent out to watch the movements and approach of the Indians, and to report same to the settlers. Indeed companies of these scouts or spies were organized and commanded by proper officials and were obliged to serve alternately by squads. Such military organizations were obtained in the summer of 1770, when a detachment of six men were sent out from Randolph CO to spy on the maddened Indians. Four of this small company were William WHITE(was this the James White of White's Fort Father?), Thomas DRENNEN, Paul Shaver, and John Cutright, the other two are unknown John __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? 1. Cox Family, Different line
    2. John and Jeremy, I also have a Cox line in my Mother's Family that I don't know much about. My Mother's GGGrandmother was Lydia Cox, born 1830 in Rush, IN. She married William Perry Henderson in Iowa. I believe she married a "Wiley" before him. It is a possibility her parents were Abner Cox and Susanna Johnston. But this is guess work. I do not know where the Cox family came before IN but I do know that the Henderson family came from KY, to TN to IL then IA and further west. Just a long shot but thought I'd see if anything matches your lines! Thanks!! Carolyn Whaley

    1. Cox Family
    2. John And Jeremy, I saw where you have Cox in your line! I am trying to help Phyllis Peterson and we found that in the 1850 Anderson County Census that a Mary Cox, 51, born VA, was living with James W. Key (Wife Matilda). Phyllis says Matilda maiden name was Early. Jame's Father was John Key (Wife Elizabeth, also born in VA) in this census. It is a long shot, but maybe Mary Cox is Jame's Aunt and Elizabeth's Sister?? Do you have anything in your lines with these names?? Thank you!! Carolyn Whaley

    2. Angela, Thank goodness for your time and work!! It takes away from your Family! I read all of your emails because somewhere you might break my brick wall!! Other surnames are present in them too!! It also brings back the mood of the times and maybe will give me other thoughts on where to search!! In the past you even took time to take pictures at Leach Cemetary for me and found my Husband's Grandmother was married twice!! You are an Angel, Angela! :) I am on several lists and receive a lot of emails but I selectively delete ones that don't apply to my research. I am sure we all have to learn how to manage but surprisingly, the active lists like Anderson County, are the lists that do break more brick walls! Thank you Again!! Carolyn Whaley
