I have that book also. There are several pages on two separate John Seibers. One is called John Seiber of New River, the other called John Seiber, son of the first Phillip Seiber. I bought the book at Books-A-Million in Knoxville, TN, about 2 years ago. The full title is "Circling Windrock Mountain" by Augusta Grove Bell. John, Thank you for reminding me!! Call it a Senior moment!! Bettie Bird and I are working on this line right now AGAIN!! Every January we get fired up to break this brick wall!!. First of all, Roberts is in my Husband's line. His Grandmother was Hester Slover Luttrell Whaley. Her Mother was Parthenia Roberts who married William H. Slover. Her Mother was Mary Polly Roberts and Father was Albert Beech (recorded on Parthenia's Death Certificate). Parthenia had a Sister Josephine who married John Pebley. I do not know Jospehine's Father. Mary Polly Roberts and Annaliza Roberts, we have thought were children of Wesley Roberts and Arta. We are not sure of this. Do you have any facts to this?? Bettie and I both think we have to go back to North Carolina to prove or disprove it. What do you think?? Bettie is related through Annaliza. Thanks again for reminding me to contact you!! Carolyn Whaley
Hi Jim, I hadn't forgotten you I had been off line for a spell and then trying to get my files back in order. I got a bad virus like Mitzi Freeman from the Campbell County site. I had to just about start back from day one and rescan just about all of my pictures and redo my FTM files. I saw Don at the Court House the other day he told me to tell you hello and that he is hanging in there bad joints and all. I went down to pick up a copy of my Great Great Grandparents marriage certificate, I had forgoten about the fire of 1838 when Campbell County lost a lot of their records and as luck would have it their record was among those lost in the fire. In the Anderson Co., Historical Skertches there are about 3 pages on Cox but most of it is about the hospital at Coal Creek. I'm so mixed up right now I don't know who is who. I didn;t notice until last night that J.D. Cox was at my GG Uncle funeral ( John Amsterdam Prosise) & I'm looking for a Cox living with the Key family. I didn't even know Cox were in my family. I shall be reading my books John and if I learn anything I will get back to you. Phyllis
Neal, Thank you very much for this information. I will see if I can get the book from them. Hi Angela, They have TN papers with "Old Stories" but all that I have found all want to charge for the information. John __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com
Now why didn't I think of that ???? Here I sit at times doing exstraction for the Church but I do marriage's & births & I found Synder Roberts book in their Library in Salt Lake but I've never seen a will book nor did I ask. Thanks Ron, Phyllis
You do us all a great service. I really appreciate you and all you. Please don't stop what you do, the majority should have the say. I've learned so much from reading all the posts. When I go back to Anderson County to visit, I'll see Lake City in a different light also Clinton etc.. YOU GO GIRL. Mary Wade Banks
Thank you, Sheila, and all for the support and encouragement to continue providing the info. I must say that I didn't appreciate being advised that I was the cause of people leaving the list! As Sheila pointed out, I am very careful to include surnames within the subject line in order for people to weed out what they don't want. Frankly, only a few have related to my family lines, but I also find them interesting and educational; but more importantly, I enjoy doing them. These are considered primary source documents and I am able to obtain alot of info from them on my connections; I also receive a great deal of pleasure in knowing that it has filled in a gap for someone else's tree. So, I guess, I'll just go on searching and posting. I only wish they had Tennessee papers!
Carolyn I think I got it on Hertiage Quest. I belong to Columbus and Cleveland Public Library and can access it on my computer. Anyone on the List can check with their library to see if they belong to Heritage Quest or Ancestry. You will need a card to access it. Phyllis Maybe Mathilda's mother remarried and was once again a widow. I don't always lean on the ages in the census. I've come accross some of my ancestors that got almost 10 years younger in the census. Don't know if they didn't remember what year it was or when they were born. Bet they didn't always remember someone's birthday like we do now. Milly WARD Piros My mind is lightning one brilliant flash and pooooffffffffffffffffffffff it's gone. Hi, This is a piece of the story that Phyllis just wrote to the list. >The John Seiber family had a family of at least 11 children in 1850 as follows.(1) Livi 1821, (2) Katherine 1824 (3) Phillip 1828. (4) Clarissa 1831 ( 5) Frederick 1834) (6) Hyram 1835 (7) Malinda 1838 (8) George 1840 (9 ) Mark1840) Twins? (10) Jurdon 1842 & (11) Stephen 1848. The Seiber families made a sizable contribution in the early struggles of the Baptist Churches in Anderson & Roane Co., Has anyone seen the book of Story of Windrock Mountain & it's People ?< Is there a story on the John Seiber family in the book "Story of Windrock Mountain & It's People"? Is this book still for sale to the public? Thank you Linda
Just my 2 cents - At first I was a little overwhelmed by the amount of emails from Angela but I found some articles that had my BROWN/DUNCAN line in them or branches thereof. Sometimes the subject doesn't contain my line but the story does and even if not, some of those stories are just plain ol' interesting to read!!! Something else - for a while before Angela started posting, this list was dead. Its nice to see it active again and Angela, you just keep at what you're doing, Honey!!! You are providing a valuable service to EVERYONE researching in Anderson Co., just like Neal does with his obituaries. Everyone has a delete key and like someone suggested, I know I can switch to Digest mode and receive one email a day if it gets to be too much. Regardless of whether a story pertains to my line isn't significant - the fact is that the story is going to pertain to SOMEONE'S line. Its nice that these volunteers, Neal, Angela, Bonnie, etc. go out of their way for the many who are researching - not just the one. Thank you all for the service and time you have put into helping us! I may just be one person, but I appreciate your efforts! Sheila
Milly, Thanks!! My Ancestry didn't pull it up! Wow! Two Mary's !! Who ever said Genealogy was easy!! LOL!! Carolyn Whaley
Thank you again Millie, I've thought of the same thing. I can just see mother's just having a baby with 5 or 6 kids running around and getting up writing a date in the Bible. Me, the family history person & the only one in my family put the wrong birth date on my own mothers stone. I know in the Prosise's, dates are wrong. I don't like to make mistake but I make them. Phyllis
Thanks Jeremy, I will check it out! Carolyn Whaley
Thank you Jeremy your a wonder & Carolyn keeps me in line. Here is part of of story & I don't know where it came from but it's old and came by snail mail years ago. On the same page is information of Teh Rev. John Webster, his dau. was my step- g grand'mother so I have that information if someone needs it. John & Millie built their home and a Church at the ? of the Hoskins Hollow Rd. with the Frost bottom Rd. In addition he owned he owned much coal lands including 5,000 acre tract (surveyed in 1834 )on ?lew River. Rev. John was a forceful Preacher but owning the Church building may have inclined him to take certain liberties. In any event he developed the habit of "dram drinking" which may have even improved his delivery but his "dram drinking " developed until he was a habitual user of fire water to the extent that Millie "nagged him constanly " For the full story of how Millie was cured of nagging and the Rev. John may have been cured of his drinking see the " Story of Widrock Mountain and It's People" by this writer. The Seiber families made a sizable contribution in the early struggles of the Baptist Churches in Anderson & Roane Co., Has anyone seen the book of Story of Windrock Mountain & it's People ? Phyllis
Thanks Millie, I had seen that too and I've been told wife of John W. Key is "Elizabeth" was an Alred but she was born in Va. in both the 1840 & 1850 census and she was born abt 1802. If this is Matilda's mother then her maiden name is not "Early". Right now I've been spending the whole week on the Key's, & maybe I don't see the trees because of the forrest . I keep screaming like Ronald Regan " BREAK DOWN THIS WALL" (Smile ) Is it ok for me to write a story I found in a book on the Seivers in hopes someone knows the ending ? Again Millie, I Thank you so much and all of you that help me. Phyllis
I had a friend who was sending out double, triple and even quadruple messages. His provider was MSN, and he'd just downloaded their new MSN 9. After contacting their technicians, the problem seemed to be solved but it wasn't until he deleted MSN 9 and went back to using MSN 8. I think it's almost always a problem w/ the provider.
