    1. Pentecost Evans/Kirk
    2. Out of Jail Runaway lawyer Mary Pentecost Evans was released from jail Tuesday after her parents posted an $802,000 property bond that included the family's home and farm. Ms. Evans, 26, spent three days in a 16-by-7-foot Anderson County Jail cell in Clinton, Tenn.,after being returned in shackles to Tennessee. Ms. Evans and escaped convict William Timothy Kirk were arrested by FBI agents Wednesday outside a telegraph office in Daytona Beach, Fla. They had been on the run since March 31, when they fled an Oak Ridge psychologist's office a week before Kirk's trial for two murders at nearby Brushy Mountain Penitentiary. Ms. Evans walked out of the jail with her lawyers Tuesday morning and drove away with her mother and father, Kara and B.H. Pentecost, after Criminal Court Judge James B. Scott approved bond. Pentecost, a lawyer and assistant vice president for agriculture at the University of Tennessee, testified at his daughter's bond hearing Monday that she would stay at the family's 76-acre farm near Knoxville. 1. Byrd/Pemberton/Andrews
    2. Ambushed Driver Witness at Probe WASHINGTON - A truck driver who survived a shot from ambush was called as a key witness today in a probe of alleged Teamsters Union goon squad violence in six states. As the Senate Rackets Committee opened a new series of hearings, counsel Robert F. Kennedy confirmed that Ray Byrd of Batavia, Ohio, has been subpoenaed. Kennedy said Byrd was called to tell how he was shot in the back in August 1956 near LaFollette, Tenn., when gunmen ambushed his truck. Police never have solved the shooting, Kennedy added. Kennedy said the committee is launching an inquiry into activities of- what he termed "a goon squad drawn from some Teamster locals in Tennessee." Much of the investigation will deal with violence in that state, Kennedy said, but it also will study reports of violence in Ohio, Kentucky, Georgia, Florida and Mississippi against truckers operating in those states. Kennedys aid other first day witnesses include J. R. Pemberton, Clinton, Tenn.,an executive of the Pemberton Truck Lines which employed Byrd, and Paul Andrews, an official of the B. & S. Motor Lines of Nashville, Tenn. Newport Dailey News, Newport, Rhode Island, Dec 5, 1957

    3. Hi Phyllis, Seems like "I"s always got me in trouble. There was a writing class in college that I :) used "I"s in a paper & received bunches of red marks for, & of course the paper received a "D". :) The word "I" should be avoided at all costs. Please accept my apology. My families from Anderson & Knox counties are: Weaver (my mother), Ezell, Worley, McCloud, Peters & Capps. Henry Weaver was born in NC 08-03-1828. He married Nancy Jane Weaver in Knox CO 11-17-1847. Henry died in Clinton, Anderson CO 06-30-1898. The Weavers lived in Clinton & Heiskell. Sometimes the census had Weaver families listed in both the census records for Knox & Anderson Counties for the same year. Their children were Minerva Jane, Lafayette, Leander, Elizabeth, Delida, James Henry, Savannah Jane & Leatha. Nothing is known about the parents of Henry & Nancy Jane. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sandra Stacey

    3. Hi Phyllis and/or others. I saw that you guys somewhere mentioned Curd Cox and Susan Overton (I hope!). I found this will of their son, John. You actually have to go the TN page at USGenWeb. Start at this page: http://www.usgenweb.org/research/starting.shtml, and then click on the search by state link under Step 2. Go through until you get to Anderson and then click wills. I am sorry if you have already seen this or know about it, just trying to help. Sorry in advance if this is a waste of your time. 3. Hi Angela, I am not criticizing you. What you do is great. I just can't keep up. It would help enormously if you could add more than one article to your posting instead of separately. I do enjoy them, I just can't keep up. I am also on Morgan, Scott, Knox & Montgomery County mail sites. Your articles are very interesting. It would make it so much better for me if you could put more than one article in a message for me to read all at once. That's why I said I would have to read them all at once on the web site. I am the one who first suggested you post them on the site. I am sorry if you took my message wrong because I did not mean to offend you. 3. Your a sweetheart. I have just about every Prosise one would want from Va. to Texas and about every other state. I've so many I can't use them all in the book i'm having done. However I'm finding holes . My brick wall is the "Keys" John Wesley Key married Elizabeth ???? I need to find her maiden name & family. she was born in Va. so say the census. When John died Elizabeth was not mentioned so I take it she died before John ( I put that darn information down & now can't find it) in 1882\89 in May. I must have had the will at one time to have the date of the will. I started all of this in 1963 and can't remember. If I did have it I sure can't find it now but even if I did if Elizabeth is not in the will why would her maiden name be there ? I did a lot by snail mail and no copy machines so I could have loaned it out years ago. My gut tells me to put down my findings and go on. Someone sent his name to the LDS Church saying John W. Key was born in Greene Co., Tenn. There's a John Williams Key ,and the year is right but it's not him.In the LDS records it has John W. Key born 1798 born in Green Co., & married Mahala Aldred & her parents were Solomon Aldred & Mary Mc Donald. One son listed James Wesley Key.b. 20, Aug. 1818 in Tenn. death 15, Dec. 1897 and all of that is correct except where did the name Aldred come from ?? I don't think they came from Va.My cousin Kenneth Hackworth ,says Aldred also but I need proff. My poor G. Grandmother died at the age 29 & 5 children & by 1869 her two daughter & she were dead & for some reason she won't let me rest. God Bless, Phyllis
