    2. Calvin Elkins parents were Payton Elkins and Mary Leppard. my spelling may be incorrect. Robert Elkins parents were Sarah Varner and Calvin Elkins. I think that Calvin and Sarah were never married and Calvin was married to a Nancy ??? Sarah Varner and Cal Elkins also had another child named Leora Elkins born in 1887 in kNox county. My grtgrandfather Robert Elkins entered on his delayed birth certificate that his father was Calvin Elkins born in Anderson county TN. This has been a deadend for me for a long time. Thanks Christy Robert Elkins born 1884 in kNox county TN. He married Eula Smith 1911 in overton County TN. Their children were Haskell Elkins, Paul Elkins, Geneva Elkins and Robert Elkins. This family moved to Greene county IN about 1916.

    3. Lodema Caroline Hoskins came back to Clinton after Issac death. I think she remarried but didn't live long if I remember right Some of her children stayed in Texas. My Sarah Key (G Grandma) went with them Isaac was Sarahs brother. My mind is blank. Polly Olson has done much on the Hoskins & Kenneth Hackworth. Me I just tag along looking for my Kie's. Wm. Kie, brother to those married Nancy E.V. Hoskins 22, Dec. 1869 In Anderson Co.,

    3. I remember the Yablonski murders. I was about 13 at the time. My dad being an ex coal miner, along with the fact that the national news media was shooting scenes from Lafollette's streets, it was sort of interesting. I believe one of the guns was traced to Campbell County. If I am not mistaken it was traced to a local law enforcement officer who had sold it to a local doctor where it was stolen months earlier. I believe the murders happened on or near New Years Eve 1969. Their is a movie starring Charles Bronson about the murders. It is also called "An Act Of Vengeance" John, If you would be interested in seeing it, try that video store at Jacksboro near the Jacksboro Middle School. "First Run Video" I think. If I remember correctly, the FBI Arrested Albert Pass on the Street in Lake City. Albert was a UMWA official. That incident should in no way reflect on the UMWA as an organization. It just had very corrupt officials at that time. --Gerald -----Original Message----- From: Kay Adams <adam9419@bellsouth.net> To: TNANDERS-L@rootsweb.com <TNANDERS-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Sunday, January 30, 2005 2:54 PM Subject: Re: [TNANDERS-L] Re: Yablonski murders http://www.appalachianpower.com/yablonski%20murder.htm ==== TNANDERS Mailing List ==== Please do not write your message with CAPS on. 2. Angela--what was the date on that Prater/Hackworth train wreck? I grew up in Clinton but have lived away from there for the past 50 years--but I think I knew both of those ladies. Also, I had a question for you the other day about Fort Johnson (I believe that was the name) and I didn't know if there was a Fort by that name around Clinton--Could you please let me know where that Fort was, if you should happen to know?! Thanks--and I am enjoying your articles. Wanda

    3. Jerry, Nancy and Elizabeth were daughters of Joel Yarnell. Neither daughter ever married. Finding Robert in the census with Nancy & Elizabeth led me to believe that he was certainly related somehow to this family. Still trying to figure this one out! Thanks for your input. 3. Hi Sandra, A lot of the Capps family still live around Paulette in Union County. They married into the Johnson, Mitchell, Beals/Bales, Butcher and Turner lines. Sorry I didn't retain records on The CAPPS when I was going through the records at Maynardville Court House. If you live close by to the area, the folks at the Court House will bend over backwards to assist you (or they would back the last time I was there in 1998). 3. Hi Jerry, Okay my records showed 9 children for Edward 'Pain' Bray and 9 children for Edward and Martha Patsy Sweet. Edward Payne Bray was a son of John Bray and Jane? His siblings were Joseph H. Bray, Joshua J. Bray and Thomas Bray. I have no dates for Martha Patsy Sweet Bray other that they were M. abt 1855 I misplaced my notes from earlier today. What was Sarah H. Bray's husband's first name? Also did anyone happen to see an Obituary on Paul Edward Bray b.December 29, 1945 d. Tuesday January 25, 2005 in a tragic automobile accident in South Clinton? His wife Lynn is hospitalized at UTMC. All prayers for her and Paul's family will be appreciated. 3. Hi John, My 2nd great grandfather was Enoch Richmond Capps. He was born in NC & married Mary M Goad. Their children were: Rose, Laura Alice, Alfred M, William Lewis, Samuel Aaron, John , Benjamin, Henry A, Sylvanus, Flora Emeline, Pearl Mae, Paul L, George Edward & Hattie Ellen. I do not see a George Sterling. Do any of the above names ring a bell? 3. >Hi Jerry, > >Sarah H. Bray that married Yarnell. Do you have >anything on her parents and siblings? > >John Sarah's parents were Edward Payne Bray and Anna F. Messamore. I believe the list below is fairly accurate. The most uncertain issue is whether Jane Bray was the daughter of Anna F. Messamore or the daughter of Martha Patsy Sweet. Jane was born at roughly the same time that Anna F. Messamore died and Edward Payne Bray married Martha Patsy Sweet. There is enough uncertainty in the dates of these events that we don't know for sure who Jane's mother was. Well, we do know that the marriage of Martha Patsy Sweet was 12 Mar 1855. But the date of death for Anna F. Messamore and the birth date of Jane Bray are uncertain.
