    3. >Jerry, the marriage books you spoke of---when you say Knoxville >Library--do you mean the Library library or ETHS? Or maybe that is called >McClung--anyway where one does research. niota I'm referring to the McClung Collection. The McClung Collection is not in the main library in downtown Knoxville. Rather, it's on the third floor of the same building where the ETHS is in downtown Knoxville. There is construction in the building, and the entrance is now on Gay Street just across the street from the Tennessee Theater. ETHS itself is on the first floor. The Knox County archives are on the second floor. And the McClung Collection is on the third floor. The McClung Collection contains microfilm of courthouse records for many East Tennessee counties, including Anderson County. It also includes the transcriptions that I referred to as being in the "Knoxville Library". Strictly speaking, it's the Knox County Public Library system that the McClung Collection is a part of, not the "Knoxville Library". Also, I probably should have mentioned that the handwritten marriage books themselves include a handwritten index. The handwritten index can be yet another clue to deciphering a difficult entry in the marriage book. The handwritten indexes are included on the microfilm for the marriage books. Jerry

    3. Carolyn you asked about people who came from NC to TN about 1800. My ancestor Samuel Marshall came with Dowlins and Chapmans from Warren Co. NC to Anderson Co.. Maybe your ancestors were from Warren Co. I would like to know who the wife of Samuel was. I think he came with young children and no wife. He settled on Bull Run Creek. niota

    3. John, All I have on Martha Jane Herrell is her parents were William Herrell and Elizabeth Hurst. I have born 1826, TN but I wonder if she may have been born in VA. Seems to me if George Webb her husband came to Anderson Co., TN before 1830 he would have been in his early 30's and probably married by then, unless she was a second marriage. 3. Hi Phyllis, "Tootie" is my aunt Beluah Marie. My mom is Anna FayePhillips m: Kenneth Eugene(Gene) Rhea. And yes, Pauline Sue (I don't know her maiden name) died Aug.27, 2004. Ruby Leona (Prosise) Phillips died Nov.2,2004. She was mom & Tootie's mother. my grandmother(or Granny Phillips to me). I have one picture of Joe Prosise and one of mamma (Nancy Ellen (Jones) Prosise that I took abt. 25 yrs. ago. I haven't run into a Ansel & Virginia Prosise. Where do they fit? My Humphery is the mother of Susannah Nelson, mother of Sarah Jane foust, mother of Nancy Ellen Jones. I have(somewhere), a book on the Spindle-top oil co. and the Humphery conections from abt 15-20 yrs. ago. It must have been mis-placed in my last move. Anywho, it had from Sarah Jane Foust back to 1665, when the spelling was change from "Faust" to Foust when they came from Gremany. I really need to find that book! I could help alot of people with it! I would love some Carden pictures! I knoe Susan Florence was a redhead. It would really help with the writting of the Clear Branch Rd. Rheas. I guess now I have to write about the Phillips too! Ma doesnt want to be left out! :) I'll send you my address. 3. Hi Joan, That makes for two of us, I am interested in Isabel Webbs mother Martha Jane Herrell who I believe is related to Jane Herrell who was married to Henry Cox. Some McKameys use to live down the street from Aunt Nell Wyatt Diggs in the area of what is now the Church parking lot and the Post Office. 3. Hi Teresa, John Rhea Bridge is the bridge that crosses the creek as you left school and started for the Fair Grounds. Then you passed John B.'s House on the right. When you got to the curve and made a right (if you turned left you went through Cobb Hollow) about 150 feet from the corner was at that time a store called Disney Market ran by Rubye Harmon Disney and her husband Woodrow. Back in the 1920's & 1930's it was a Meat processing/store called E.S.Chase's Mkt. As you started out Savage Garden Rd. and went around the big curve by the Underwoods and Wilsons the first house you passed on the left was "Granny Webb's" then L. A. "Georgia Slim" Newman's and sometimes "Bob" Wilbar might be around. I believe when Red Goins lived out in there it was after he retired and moved back from Cleveland,OH? I was born just up the road in the little Hollow between the two springs where Webb-Polly branch comes out into Coal Creek. Edd Phillips had a store setting in there at that time. Before it was Ed's store it had been what some folks use to call a Honky Tonk or a roadhouse. A Tavern and dance hall was on the first floor and home was upstairs. The place had been originally been built by Robert H. "Bob" Lowe but on March 28,1940 he was shot four times and died at his new place near Lake City. The place was then sold to I believe Sam Lester, then Bill Wallace anyhow Frank Dew ended up with it and then he sold it to my father and it burned down on Easter Sunday 1953 I believe and then a couple of years later the property was sold to Edd Phillips. Back in the late 40's and early 50's before they became recording stars, fellow's like Roy Acuff and Chester Atkins use to drop by from Union County and play a little music. 3. Hello, I was wondering where the name came from "Mackey" for 2nd marriage for Lodema C. Hoiskins? I have John Knott who was a Physician. I also have her born 24, Sept. 1824 in Dutch Valley. Died 16, Aug. 1867 in Clinton buried at Ceder Cem. Dutch Valley. There was a Miller Lodema Key, who married John Hackworth 23, Aug. 1874. Sure a funny first name for a female. They married 23, Aug. 1874 in Clinton . She died 1, Sept. 1897. at Donovan, Anderson Co. I think I seen a John Wesley married to Elizabeth Taylor on line today. If I remember right she didn't have the last name of male & I think it's as above. Issac Miller & Caroline had 5 children including one set of twins John Weslry & Jesse Key were twins. The Rev Jesse was a twin to John. He died in Fla. He married Sarah McIntosh Norwood. Place ? I can make you out a gr. sheet if you wish. Let me know about Lodema PLEASE. Phyllis
