(Ella) Yarnell was the daughter of Milton T. Yarnell and Mary Ann Overton. Ella was the widow of Stephen E. Messamore who had died in 1940. The obit says the services were at the Zion Baptist Church, but the obit does not say explicitly where she was buried. She was in fact buried at the Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Mary Harris's book has her tombstone inscription as Messamore, Ella J. Yarnell 1-11-1863 3-26-1949. So there is a two day discrepancy on Ella's date of death between the obit and the tombstone inscription. S. B. Messamore was Samuel B. Messamore who was born Aug 1887. Ernest Messamore was James Ernest (Ernest) Messamore who was born Nov 1889. Jerry Bryan

    1. Re: [TNANDERS-L] Searching for Ancesters "through the back door"??

    3. Hi Carolyn, I can trace my ancestors back to my 10th Great Grandfather William Chase b.November 20, 1597 in Wivenhoe, Essex Co, England d.May 04, 1659 Yarmouth, Barnstable, MA. William and his wife Mary came to America in 1630 on the ship "Arabella" and landed at Plymouth Colony. William Chase was the first named Chase in America. He came with the fleet that brought Governor Winthrop and his group. In the records of the first church of Roxbury, (now called Boston Highlands), is the following statement in the handwriting of the Rev. John Elliott, who was the first pastor of that church. "He William Chase, came with the first company in 1630, bringing with him his wife, Mary, and his oldest son, William." I can also trace back to my 10th Great Grandfather Stephen Hopkins (his GGGreat Grandaughter Thankful Maker m. my 6th Great Grandfather Isaac Chase Jr.) who came over on the Mayflower in December 1620. They kept manifests with these old ships and the New England Historical Society has tons of information on these families but I don't know about them keeping good records on Wagon Trains. But then again someone had to have a list of all of the members of the wagon train that got stranded at Donner's Pass and the folks turned to cannibalism to keep from starving to death when trapped for the winter. 3. Hi Jeremy, No you have the right John Bullock Sr. Webb m. Martha Jane Herrell their children were; Rhoda Emeline Webb, Charles Preston Webb, Powell Andrew Webb, Isabell Webb, John Bullock Jr. Webb, Sarah Elizabeth Webb, Jesse Jackson Webb and Marcus Monroe (Mark) Webb. People have a tendency to be off a year or two one way or the other when calculating birth years from census records. Remember HUMANS took the census and there is always human error not to mention ladies that didn't want to tell their age and people didn't trust the census takers because they worked for the Government. Also a lot of the folks didn't really know when they were born and they couldn't remember what they had told one census taker from the previous ten years. Just give thanks for your ancestors because if hadn't been for them, their hard work we wouldn't be here today enjoying all the comforts that we now enjoy!
