My GGG Grandfather Caswell Queener, Sr.(1811-1891) had several sons one being Caswell Jr. who is the father of Emily Queener and the brother to my GG Grandfather, Charles Russell Queener. Charles Russell is my line. He married Rebecca Thompson in Campbell County, TN the year of 1905. They had five children that I know of, one being my Great Grandmother Mary Emily Queener(1910-1979) who passed before I could remember ever meeting her. Mary Emily Queener married Robert Lee Violet abt 1926. She was my grandma's aunt, so that would make her my great great aunt. How are you related? Jeremy

This is what's on the internet. John Wesley Key, born 1798 in Green Co., Tenn. Married Mahala Aldred, who was born in Tenn.about 1796. It does not list parents of John W. but Mahala parents were Solomon Aldred & mother was Mary McDonald., they had one son who was listed. James Wesley Key, born 20, Aug. 1818 in Tennessee & died 20, Dec. 1897. Some of this is correct as far as I can find. John Wesley Key birth date is correct according to the 1840 & 1850 census of Anderson Co., The name of Mahala is wrong according to the 1840 & 1850 census. I have her birth date abt 1802 & born in Va. & her name is Elizabeth. James Wesley Key, is all correct & may have come from his stone at the Key-Hoskins Cemetery in Clinton. I've seen the headstone in 1990. It does seem that Greene Co., had many Key's & I have a print out. There is an Isaac, John W. Key & others. I'm going over them tonight to see if there are any Phillips. Sumner co., is another place for Key's. More later. Blessings Phyllis

Do you have any in your cox line named Mary Cox who married into the Key family ?? Phyllis
Are there any relations to Emily on the list? I would be a first cousin, thrice removed. Looking for any family members. Thank you Neal for posting these :-) >From the Oak Ridger 8 Feb 2004 Emily Queener Cox, 99, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005, in Maryville. Mrs. Cox was a longtime member of Clinton First Baptist Church. She grew up in the Dutch Valley community. She and Frank Alexander Cox were married in 1929 and lived in Clinton until 1985, when they moved to Maryville to be near their daughter and family. They took great pride in keeping a neat and beautiful home and yard. She spent many pleasurable hours growing flowers. Mrs. Cox was well known as a wonderful cook. Her happiest times were when she had her family gathered in their home for big dinners. She was of a most generous nature and enjoyed serving others rather than being served. She and her husband were both employed by Magnet Mills from young adulthood until the mill closed. Mrs. Cox was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, Caswell and Burnette Seiber Queener; and her brothers, Haskell, Ervin, Hope, and Ralph Queener. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Driskill and husband, Bill, of Maryville; her granddaughter, Carol Law and husband, Paul, of Maryville; her grandson, David Driskill and wife, Donna, of Dallas, Ga.; her great-grandsons, Caleb and Curtis Law of Maryville; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will take place at 3 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2005, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. The Rev. Sam Dean will officiate. Burial will follow at Woodhaven Memorial Garden. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
I've printed it off and have gone over with a fine tooth comb as the saying goes. you have a lot of information & did your home work. Isaac Key, Married a Hoskins in fact 2 of the Key's married Hoskins. I think it's one reason the Key- Hoskins Cemetery has that name, anyway Isaac & Caroline Hoskins along with his sister (Sarah) Key Prosise & husband went to Texas with Isaac. Isaac dies in Texas and Caroline come back to Clinton & remarried but only lived 3 or 4 years. My G Grandmother Sarah Key Prosise had a son while in Texas & that was my grandfather john dudley Prosise. Born in Austin Texas. I think they went to Texas over the up-coming war. thomas & Sarah left Clinton and went to Missouri where he joins the Union army, as soon as the was was over they packed up & went back to Clinton. sarah Key prosise has a son in Mo. named Charles. I just can't believe all of this Key family are gone. Sarah back in Tenn. died along with 2 little girls. I've never seen the name of Robbie E. Key as a child of John W. but as I said there are 2 I have no names for.. As far as I traced they had no children in KNoxville all were born in clinton so say Thomas J Prosise war records read. I know on the internet it says that but it's not true.Where did you find the marriage of Effie Prosise ? I don't think she & Robert ever married but lived as man & wife in Mo.1st, cousins could not marry in Tenn. could they ?? I've search Kansas & no record but on Effies death cert. it has husband "unknown" the family I feel were trying to hide facts.Effie lived about 25 years after Roberts death. Her family were all dead by 1936. I have a picture of Effie and her stone is in the Prosise plot in Mo. I'll be back tomorrow and thank you so much. I'm sure I will have more questions. Blessings Phyllis
No, this was during the Coal Creek Wars in Briceville, Oliver Springs, etc. 1880's...
Angela--thanks ever so much! I presume that that was during WWII? I can't remember the circumstances of your previous posting, but it seems that that would be the correct time. Please correct me if I am mistaken. I just had never heard of Fort Anderson, even though I grew up in Clinton. Thanks again! Wanda Wilson (Oma)
