John Cox was in Roane Co. as early as 1817 and his will was probated in 1840-41, depending on which record you read. He lists all his children in his will. My line of Cox joins Jeremy's at John Cox. John's son Samuel was a brother to Richard, Jeremy's ancestor. To trace my line, Samuel was the father of Martin who was the father of William Lincoln who was the father of Mary Cox Kesterson, my grandmother and the grandmother of another lister (hi Dave!). It was such a delight to learn on this list that Jeremy is also related to my family through his Carter line. And cousin Dave found that Jeremy was a relative through the Burris line. Seth Johnson's youngest son was named Berry JOHNSON and he married a Nancy Ellen JOHNSON. However, both lines go back to Edmund JOHNSON. Berry Johnson married twice and I was lucky enough to find a wonderful cousin from the second marriage who helped me tremendously. Berry's second wife was Eliza Louisa Davis who was born in SC. Berry died in 1922 in Rockhouse, Madison County, Arkansas. Eliza died in 1925 in Tulsa, Tulsa County, Oklahoma. If you need this line, let me know. For years and years, Berry JOHNSON was a mystery to me! I'll check some of the other JOHNSON lines you mentioned and let you know if I have any of them. I'm still stuck on the CRAIG side, John. I can't find the parents of Reuben CRAIG anywhere. Nina

John, Since you are researching Johnson's, do you have anything on a Hugh Johnson that was married to Reba Hutson. Hugh's mother killed Reba, but did not kill that baby that was with Reba. I don't have Reba's birth or death date handy, but she is buried in Peabody Cemetery. (Is Peabody in Anderson or Campbell?) Hugh's mother went to jail for awhile, I don't know how long, etc. Hugh left, and I think, went up into Kentucky. I can't remember Hugh's mother's name. Something like Biddie, Birdie?//// If you should have this family, could I please have Hugh's birth and death date and the names of his parents. Thank you so much Linda
Hi Linda, All I have so far on this Hugh is the article I saved from TRUE DETECTIVE I believe that it was first printed in 1956 then they did a reprint in 1980's I saved the article if you would like I will e-mail you a copy but I need a working e-mail address that will accept attachments with photo's.
