He was an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ruby Bowling Cox, four sister, Mrs. Ruby Foster and Mrs. Clara Foster of Clinton Rt.1, Mrs. Myrtle Reynolds and Miss. Texie Cox of Knoxville, and a half-brother, Clifton Cox of Alabama. Funeral services were held Tuesday at First Wesleyan Church in Clinton with the Rev. Samuel E. Condon officiating. Burial was in Sunset Cemetery.

Clinton Courier April 20, 1978 Ex-Resident Of Lake City Dies In Ohio Mrs. Susie Bradshaw Martin, 70, of Toledo, Ohio, died Tuesday morning in a hospital there. She was the wife of Glen Hobert Martin, a retired L. and N. Railroad foreman, who died 1951. Mrs. Martin was a native and former resident of the Lake City area and daughter of Sam and Martha Huckaby Bradshaw. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Irene Braden and a son, Maynard Hobert Martin, of Toledo, 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services are to be held at 11 a.m. Thursday (today) at the Martin Funeral Home chapel in Lake City with the Rev. Bill Lamb officiating. Burial is to be in Robbins Cemetery on Dutch Valley Rd.

Clinton Courier Aug. 6, 1964 Rites Are Held Saturday For Claude Butcher Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon for Claude F. Butcher, 78, of 510 Eagle Bend Rd., Clinton, who died last Thursday morning at St. Mary's Hospital in Knoxville. Mr. Butcher was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Mason and Eastern Star lodges in Clinton. He was a building contractor for several years and then in the real estate business in recent years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Appie Guy Butcher, a daughter, Mrs. Roy H. Borum Jr, five grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Ollie Watkins, all of Clinton. The services were conducted by the Rev. Hayward Highfill at First Baptist Church.Burial was in Sunset Cemetery with the Mason in charge of graveside services.

Clinton Courier Aug. 6, 1964 Mother Of Local Pastor Dies At 77 Mrs. Ada Tucker, 77, mother of M.H. Tucker, minster of Clinton Church of Christ, died at her home in Linden, Tenn., west of Nashville, on July 29. She had been ill sometime. Funeral services were conducted Friday. In addition to Mr. Tucker, there are two other sons and six daughters.

He suffered a stroke a week before his death. He was an employee of the Y-12 plant of Union Carbide Corp. in Oak Ridge. He was born in Daisy nut had lived most of his life in Caryville and Lake City area. He was a veteran of the Army service during the Korean War.He was a member of the Vasper Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, and of the Caryville Masonic Lodge. I found what looks like Lymuel Phillips born March 1898 in the 1900 census for Scott County, TN on the top of page 4b. Others listed with him on this page were Emily bn Aug 1893, Flora July 1894, Luther Dec 1895, Flornce Mar 1897 and Nora Sept 1899. The bottom of 4a was really bad and I can't make out for sure but it looks like they were in the household of a Granville Harrison age 48 bn Jan 1852 and his wife Catherine age ? bn Dec 186? . Mr Slover was a retired coal miner, a former police officer, and a member of the American Legion and the VFW. He was the holder of the Distinguished Service Cross, the nation's second highest military honor, and other medals. Mr Slover was a sergeant in Company B, Fifth Regiment, US Marine Corps, during World War I. He received the DSC for exceptional heroism and conspicuous services above and beyond the call of duty in France in 1918. Among his medals was one from Marshall Foch, Commander In Chief of Allied armies. Mr Slover was a cousin of the late Colonel S L Slover of Norfork, VA, prominent newspaper publisher and former Anderson Countain. Clinton Courier Aug. 7, 1975 Heart Attack Takes Life Of Local Pastor A former pastor of Clinch River Baptist Church, Rev. D.L. Phillips, 77, of Phillips Rd., Lake City Rt.1, died Wednesday morning at Oak Ridge Hospital of a heart attack. He had been in poor health for some time with a history of heart trouble and emphysema. He died a few hours after sustaining the attack at his home. Mr. Phillips was pastor of Clinch River Baptist Church for five years, leaving in 1961 to found East Jacksboro Church in Campbell County. He had also been pastor of Indian Creek and Bruce's Gap churches in Campbell County.He had been retired since 1969. A was a native of Scott County but had been a resident of Anderson County for 46 years and made his home on Phillips Rd. for 30 years. Besides his work with the church,Mr. Phillips also worked as a coal miner for 27 years and as a roofing supervisor for seven years during the building of Oak Ridge in the 1940's. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nora Posey Phillips, two sons, Glenn Phillips of Westland, Mich. and Lemuel Edison Phillips of Mt.
