Clinton Courier Sept. 14, 1972 Patterson Dies Friday At His Home Allen Patterson, 63, was found dead by his wife about 6 p.m. Friday when she called him for the evening meal. The home is at Clinton Rt.2. Patterson had worked as an employee of the State Highway Department until June when he retired. He also worked at Oak Ridge as a security guard and at Beech Grove as a coal miner. A native of Campbell County, he moved to his area 31 years ago. He was a member of Clinch River Baptist Church where he took an active part in the church. He often encouraged others to attend church. Patterson leaves his wife, Mrs. Carlie Perkey Patterson of Clinton, two daughters, Mrs. Wanda Dabney and Miss. Mary Lena Patterson, both of Clinton, a son,Thomas Allen Patterson of Auburn, Ala., two granddaughters, Janet and Barbara Dabney of Clinton, and a grandson, Robert Dabney Jr. of Clinton. Services were at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Clinch River Baptist Church with the Rev. George Delozier and the Rev. Hugh McMillian officiating. Burial was at Blowing Springs Cemetery.

Clinton Courier Sept. 14, 1972 Roy Hansard Steel Foreman Dies Sunday Roy Edward Hansard, 48, a steel erection department foreman of Watson Erection Co. of Knoxville died at 10:40 a.m Sunday.He suffered a heart attack at his home in the Medford community at Lake City Rt.1 and was dead when taken to Oak Ridge Hospital. He had served in the Armed Forces during World War II. Services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pleasant View Baptist Church with the Rev. Glenn Hall and the Rev. Jack Taylor officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. He leaves his wife, LuVene Hansard, two daughters, Sandra K. Bullock and Gail Sue Bryant and son, Jerry Lynn Hansard, all of South Clinton, mother, Mrs. Navada Hansard, and a sister, Mrs. Cordie Jerrell, both of Clinton,two brothers, Fred Hansard of Clinton and Jessie Clyde Hansard of Wyoming, III, three grandchildren, seven stepchildren and three stepgrandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at Laurel Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Miles Jr. officiating. She leaves her husband, Edward Brashears of Indiana, two sons, Eddie Brashears of Fowler, Ind. and Terry Brashears of the Army in Korea, two daughters, Connie and Becky Brashears, both of Pine Village, a brother, Frank Tucker of Oliver Springs, a half-brother, Lawrence Seiber of New Madison, O., two sisters, Mrs. Christina Cook of Indiana and Mrs. Velma Hooks of Oliver Springs and one grandchild.

I remember a Miss Maggie Phillips....They lived in 10 Row in Devonia. There were 10 houses in a row..hence the name. They were down by the creek. Maggie always wore jeans back then and had hair down to her waist but her mother braided it and she kept it under a hat. She was friendly with my mother. Wonder it this one is the same....I'll have to ask my Dad if he remembers her Dad's name. Clinton Courier May 3, 1945 Joe Teno Joe Teno,. 70, prominent citizen of the Briceville community died at his home there at 3 p.m. Wednesday. Although he had been in ill health for sometime his death was unexpected. A member of the First Baptist Church for 45 years he had been an active member and a deacon for many years. He was a long time member of the Masonic Order. Clinton Courier May 3, 1945 Robert James Wilson Robert James Wilson, 44, former Lake City resident, was found dead in his room in Las Vegas, Nev., on April 25. He had been living in Las Vegas for the past three years. The body arrived in Lake City Tuesday and funeral services were held May 2 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Lake City. Rev. Otis Dabney officiated. Survivors are his step-father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Delozier, Lake City, one sister, Mrs. Charlie Disney, Lake City, two step-sisters, Mrs. Anna Cleveland,Oak Ridge, Mrs. Lucille Hatmaker, Lafollette. two step-brothers, Charles Delozier, Lafollette. Clinton Courier Sept.21, 1972 Falling Tree Kills Carroll, Timber Worker A veteran timber worker, Emory Bradford (Brad) Carroll, 50, died at about 3 p.m. Tuesday while cutting in a woods off Oak Ridge-Knoxville Highway. A spokeman for Walker Lumber Co. said he believed Carroll died instantly after being struck by a falling tree as he was cutting another log.He was dead on arrival at University Hospital. Carroll had been an employe of the South Clinton company for over 20 years. He was a World War II veteran. Clinton Courier Sept.21, 1972 Mack Phillips Retired Miner, Dies Friday Mack Phillips, 57, a retired motorman for Consolidated Coal Co. of Devonia in the New River section of Anderson County, died at 2 p.m. Friday morning at his home. He lived on Airport Rd. in the Norwood community of Oliver Springs. Phillips had been ill for several years and had retired in March of 1970. He suffered from a lung ailment. When he was able, he enjoyed fishing as a pastime. Services were at 2 p.m. Sunday at Batley Baptist Church of which, he was a member. The Rev. Howard Robbins officiated and burial was in Anderson Memorial Gardens. He leaves his wife, the former, Lillie Mae Daugherty, two sons, Clifford Ray Phillips of Knoxville and Vernon S.
