I have been using Family Tree Maker for years to enter all my data and I love it. As I find information on each person or family I enter it into the program . I can access the data in many different ways, enter sources into the notes section, enter stories handed down in the family ( and label them as unproved stories ) and different kinds of reports and trees can be generated. There is also space for a scrapbook section for each person where I scan in pictures, documents, newspaper articles, etc. I keep the orginal copies of everything in a file cabinet for storage, but I use the computer record in FTM to look things up and to trace who is related to who. I know not everyone likes FTM, but I have used it since version 3.0 and I just upgraded to version 8.0.
