Payne was my Mother's Father she was named Daisy Ann Payne. Married Lester Carter. My mother had her Father's Bible and I have it now, which is Josiah A. Payne's family Bible. After mother's mom died she lived with her dad close to Rough Hill not too far from Akersville where he died. Mother married after her dad died. This information is copied out of Josiah A. Lester Carter is the brother of William Noah Carter. They were two of the 9 or 10 children born to Samuel A. Carter and Allie Manerva Janie Roark. Noah is my husband's grandfather. Josiah Abb Payne was previously married to Sarah Ann Butrum, daughter of James L. Butrum and Margaret Ann Steenbergen. His twin brother, James K. Payne, was married to Susan Elizabeth Hale daughter of Pickney Hale. Later he married Arabel Butrum Swindle, sister to Sarah Ann Butrum.
