The line I am researching in Tennessee is Chism, and I have received lots of help from many wonderful people, both on this list, and more recently, on the Tenn. Census list. I have lots of lists of families of Chisms but I think I need help sorting through it all. I live near a family research center --at a Mormon Church here in Knoxville, Tenn., and have been advised to look into finding information there---so I am going to do that. I have already, of course, for many years, gone to the McClung Collection here in Knoxville and looked up census records there, and also I have belonged to a Chism Family Association & an Upper Cumberland Genealogical Association......so I have had lots of chances to find out stuff. However I am now considering hiring a genealogist. I'd like to know if anyone knows a good one that won't cost an arm and a leg! Because I am very ignorant on this subject! I know that a good genealogist is WORTH an arm and a leg probably, but I don't want to be embarrassed by hiring one and then presented with a bill for $500. or something like that even if he/she finds a whole passel of Chisms in my line! Not to mention my husband's probable reaction to such a thing! (he couldn't care less who his Jorgensens were or where they came from!). I could spend money in-- possibly $35.00 increments---not real close together. Can anyone help me on this? Thanks for any attention!
