I have quite a few SAVAGE's in Clay County. I have seen these other SAVAGE people in my searching. My cousin Julia (who is a Savage) suspects that these others are descendants of old Levin Savage from Surry County, North Carolina. Might be worth checking out... Kymm in Huntsville
My greatgrandfather was a Thomas Granville Savage born 1849 Albany, KY died 11 Nov 1900. My grandmother and great grandmother said he was an orphan and knew nothing of his family. Would any you searching the name Savage have him in your records. Kymm, most of my Savages lived in Overton County. However, you may have run across Claiborn Savage in Clay County. He was my great-grandfather. You are right about descendants of Levin, two-thirds of the Savages in that area seem to be his descendants.
