Good morning BJ, The following information came from the "Stewart County, Tennessee, Marriage Records, Vol. 4, 1838 - 1848" book. ***** James SUMMERS and Louise JAMES got a marriage license on (Sept.) 21, 1839. It was solemnized on Sept. 22, 1839. This marriage ceremony was conducted by Mr. William MILLER, J. P. No other information is given about this marriage. James F. SUMMERS and Tennessee P. OUTLAW got a marriage license on July 3, 1847. Their license was never recorded as having been returned to the courthouse so no other information is given. John E. OUTLAW and Louisa JAMES received a marriage license on November 24, 1842. Their marriage was solemnized on the same day. The marriage ceremony was performed by Mr. J. E. WYNNS, J. P. No other information is included in this book about this marriage. You are wondering if this is the same Louisa JAMES that married James SUMMERS. I think if this is the same lady she would have had to have gotten a divorce to be using her maiden name as the marriage with Mr. SUMMERS was solemnized. Consequently, I think there should be a divorce record somewhere showing the end of their marriage, if this is the same lady. Thank you very much. I'm wondering if James Summers that married Louisa James is the same man that married Tennessee P. Outlaw?? Actually I am courious about all of it. James F. Summers was my gg grandfather. I am trying to determine his where abouts before 1847, which is the first record I have of him. There are 3 surnames here and 3 marriages, normally there should be 6 surnames. It all just seems odd. Also if you have anything on his father Greenberry Summers, born 1797 NC, might be helpful. James F. Summers was born 1818 NC.
