One of the benefits of doing genealogy research is to see the first names of ancestors that are the same as some of the "strange" names that I have known in my family over the years. I used to think that my relatives had the funniest names, like Ollie Frances, Cleta, Mahala Alzora, Clytie Arjane, etc. and for the men, names like Almond Ancel, Rawdon, Elzo, Ethar, and Blithey. I am beginning to realize that those names were not so odd after all...other people actually chose those names too. I also have found many names that were much "funnier" than those in my family! I have also come to realize that the "odd" names are a blessing, not a curse, in doing genealogy research. Thank God for those funny names! R.
