Hello Dianna, Let's see if we can help, if only a little bit. Pocahontas was not Cherokee, though some of the people that married into her descendancy may have been. She was a Powhatan Indian from the Algonquian Nation. "Pocahontas was an Indian princess, the daughter of Powhatan, the powerful chief of the Algonquian Indians in the Tidewater region of Virginia. She was born around 1595 to one of Powhatan's many wives. They named her Matoaka, though she is better known as Pocahontas, which means "Little Wanton," playful, frolicsome little girl." This will give you at least a little bit more in determining if you have any Cherokee ancestry. I'll post this information as soon as I complete the search.
