Hello Chism researchers. While looking for something else in Overton County today, we tripped upon a couple of CHISM goodies that may be of some use to you. Note the different spellings. 1. Overton County Deed Book E, Joel Rice of Madison County, Alabama to James Chisam of Hardeman County, Tennessee, 500 acres land in Overton County, Tenn., adjoining Russell. 1825. 2. Overton County Deed Book N, Page 493, June 19, 1826, James Chisum of Hardiman County, Tennessee, to George Maxwell of Overton County, deeds 100 acres of land on waters of Spring Creek in Overton County, adjoining dower lands of Widow Ramsey's old place.
