Hi List and Stan and Vanessa My May research and reunion trip to Tn is approaching. I will be there 2 weeks. I have 7 - 8 days to spend on research. Can any of you give me some input on planning? I have never done this type of trip before, I just started my gen. search last Aug. I also plan on visiting cemetries and relevant sites, like Ft. donelson that have a family connection. I have family living in the Nashville/Clarksville area. So I could use that for my base of operations. or I thought I might start at the furthest away co at the begining and work my way back to clarksville and Nashville. Or should I search the Archives first? Should I just concentrate on using the Tn archives or will I find "different" info at the county level? I have relatives from Montgomery, Houston , stewart , a census from Cheatham in 1880 (might just have been a boundary change and they were still in Mont.) plus others that I might learn about in these preceeding months of work. I want to make the most effective use of my time while I'm there, don't know when I would get back again. I'm now searching the LDS site on line catalog for films of Tn records that apply . They indicate they are copied from various county records. I know there will be an overlap of finding the same records twice, now and at the archives, etc. I know there are good libraries, historians, etc at the county level. I've looked at the TnGen web county pages for resources available. I talked with a "cousin" last nite. She will take the first full day of my trip off to search with me and, as she is then going out of town for 3 days she offered me the use of her condo and her Tn genealogy books for me to use there or take on my traveling to other Co. We could use the Archives that day if that is the best place to start. ( I have searched their web page for some things already) I want to make some motel reservations as my trip is the last two weeks of May, and ends the Tues after Memorial Day. So I need to start a plan, I can always cancel the reservations if I don't need them. Thanks for any hints to how to go about this. Jeanne
