Hi Jody, The book, "Red River Settlers," is basically a collection of records of people who lived in the Red River drainage and nearby areas. The Red River crosses Sumner, Robertson, and northern Montgomery County, mostly, but crosses over into Kentucky for a short time. I don't see any reference to James Robert Lee, but there is a James Lee referred to in a list of Land Grants issued by North Carolina. This James received 128 acres on Sycamore Creek in Davidson County, TN. I believe this is now in Cheatham County. The original land grant, # 2514, was issued to John Cockran on Dec. 8, 1795, but was assigned to James Lee in warrant #792. There is no reference to Benjamin S. Lee. Say, don't forget that the ROOTWALKER area covers Smith County, too. There are a number of Smith County researchers with us at this time. We hope this information from the Red River book helps you in your research. Thanks for being part of the ROOTWALKER family. Sincerely, Stan Magnesen ROOTWALKER site/list coordinator ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In a message dated 2/20/01 6:42:07 PM Pacific Standard Time, jboyd2@tampabay.rr.com writes: > Subj: Re: [ROOTWALKER] LEE family shown in "Red River Settlers." > Date: 2/20/01 6:42:07 PM Pacific Standard Time > From: jboyd2@tampabay.rr.com (JODY BOYD) > Reply-to: TN-ROOTWALKER-L@rootsweb.com > To: TN-ROOTWALKER-L@rootsweb.com > > Hi Stan, > I have been well. Stan, Do you see any Troutt, Creasy, Stinson, Slayton or Durham families in the book? Thanks, June
